It's fun.

The only bad part was when it was over, and even then, it lets you go another round.

Relaxing, challenging, and deeper than it seems. I play this when I really need to shut off my brain for a bit.

The only thing I disliked was the jarring effects when I messed up, but this was easy to turn off.

The things that stuck out for me with this game include:

Ease of play - I rarely found myself wanting to give up in frustraction due to platforming difficulty, which is good, because I'm terrible at precision platforming. [EDIT: About 75% of the way in, the precision platforming really kicks in]

The soundtrack - while good, it does get repetitive, especially when you are having to hunt every corner of the map for the next trigger to open up the next part of the game

The player character's lack of arms - doesn't really affect the gameplay, but I found it strange

Nice surreal moments - things get a little weird at times, which I think won me over. Without a little magic, I don't think the game would lure players in as much, so it nailed this.

Overall I had a fun time with this; I'm relatively picky about games, so it's always nice to see something that really tries to give every part of the game some love so it's well-rounded.

I enjoy some walking simulators, but this was not enjoyable.

There was honestly nothing to this game. A total of maybe 8 short voiceovers, less than a dozen items you could pick up (just to look at in slightly larger pixel format), and a trite, unmoving story.

I'm sorry for the negative review, but I think people deserve to know the negative aspects before buying a game.

(edited for what I guess was spoilers? How do you *not* spoil a game like this an actually give *any* detail at all? Not sure...)

It's short, so it's great for anyone with limited gaming time or attention spans.

The music is great, of course. I'd say the music was half of the enjoyment.

Lots of abilities and customizations to unlock, so you can choose your play style - melee, guns, arrows, etc.

The combat gets a little bit repetitive, and it's actually really easy. This is nice for people who don't like to rage, but I felt a little like I was just sort of walking through the story with how easy it was -- you can up the difficulty though, so that's fixable.

The story didn't really captivate me. I'm not sure why, it just wasn't very deep, so I didn't really come to care for/about the characters at all. There was one moment I felt moved, and that was at the ending, so at least it ends on a poignant note.

If you enjoy a good ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, games based on lore, creepy puzzles, layered stories, literary challenges, or any variation of these things, please buy Year Walk. I actually prefer the iOS version, as it doesn't have hints or a map, and it has a much creepier and more in-depth vibe to it. Whatever version you play, please play this and use the in-game journal to its full potential. Playing this in the dark with headphones on is the best, and just try to forget reality for a few hours. The world in this game is jarring, but so worth walking through at least once.
