I have only initially intended to check the game out for a bit but it did such a great job hooking me in within the first 30 minutes that I got addicted to it.

There will be light spoilers ahead!

Like pretty much anyone else, my first introduction to them were the movies set in the MCU so I'm not gonna go ahead and talk about accuracy to the comics. I've never picked up a comic book featuring them but I plan on doing so as soon as I finish binging Batgirls. What I will say is that the cast was portrayed in such a way that you can connect with all of them. All of the cast had moments in which they've showed their flaws and issues and they overcame such moments, save for Groot. This is not a dig at Groot, it appears he is intended to be already fully developed as a character, as shown in multiple instances throughout the game's narrative. One character that got the spotlight was Drax, and the chapters dedicated to him were incredibly well done. The game's twist however, was definitely something that got me to drop my jaw as the game was heavily building up and alluding to it only to do a complete 180.

With regards to the team dynamics, it's evident that they've been operating together as a team for a while now. The banter between the characters is great, and the conversations that open up from the collectibles you can find scattered across the game are great to listen to. Even just the normal conversations that occur from navigating across levels or when you're just at the Milano are fun to listen to. The voice actors did a great job with their roles as there's no dull moment, even across the supposed dull moments of the game.

The presentation of the huddle mechanic is pretty cool! Even if you screw up with the dialogue, it's still pretty funny as the rest of the Guardians find new ways to make fun of Peter. Regardless if you succeed with the proper dialogue or not, licensed music from the 80's play so it's honestly not all too bad, any song that plays after the huddle always seems to fit the situation at hand and pumps you up. My only gripe with it is that it can be a bit easy to accidentally trigger especially if you're juggling between abilities and elemental shots. It's easy to build up the meter though so don't be afraid if you accidentally use it up.

Lastly, I genuinely like how they handled the description of cosmetics and character biographies in this game. They state the comic that the cosmetic/character originated from and include the writers, artists, and even the editor working on that comic!

Overall, it's a great game that was unfortunately caught in the flames of the Avengers game, also published by Square Enix at the time. I recommend getting this game if you want something short-ish (20-ish hours is on the shorter end of stuff I usually play) that's fun. Gameplay is fun and easy once you get the hang of it and the story is pretty great. Characters are well-written and the interactions between them are fun to watch and listen to! I'll probably play this again in the near future since there's a New Game Plus mode and I'll go and get all the costumes and the collectibles.
