Performance is hit and miss. Takes literally minutes to start because every game launch it "compiles shaders" and apparently the game engine doesn't cache this data at all. Randomly stop accepting controller button presses until you restart the game, but only SOME buttons. 8 months after release we shouldn't still have these issues.

TL;DR: AMAZING GAME.

I funded this on Kickstarter after funding the first game. The first was fun, not quite my type but fun and looked amazing. When they said they were making a single player focused campaign influenced by ES1, I was thrilled to help fund it. So far, in early access with only a fraction of the game done, I am thrilled to say it's one of the best games I've ever played, and EXACTLY what I wanted. My all time favorite games are SMB2, Zelda 1 and Link's Awakening, Homeworld, Return to Castle Wolfenstein, and now Everspace 2. I have a hard time waiting for it to be finished.

Does this sound gushing and over the top? Yep. But completely true.

Absolutely amazing game. I can hardly believe it was created with such a tiny, tiny team. One of the best games I've played in years. It reminds me a lot of the Small rockets game "Master of the Skies: The Red Ace" from 20 years ago in the playstyle and incredible fun. However, this is absolutely a hundred years more advanced. Can't speak highly enough of it. I hope it gets more campaigns.
