Seriously upset with the total war game play here. Disappointed where this franchise is going, they are adding too much in that is unnecessary and over complicated. They are trying to re-invent the wheel which is perfectly good and loved, they just need to refine and build on what they already have with Empire/Napoleon and Medieval and not add new things making it unstable and unenjoyable for fans of Total War.

In Three Kingdoms the population mechanic and AI generally is not up to par with what I expect a total war game should be in 2019. You get dragged into Coalitions and main wars too quickly and the reform/tech tree is messy and not well done. The use of Agents and family courts just doesn't work that well and is too complicated, in addition to the weak and poor diplomacy layout and interaction. I mean also at this stage of the total war era they still haven't sorted when a nation wants to peace and you reject it to continually ask you ever turn till you do or something changes, meaning you are constantly rejecting diplomatic deals which are not favourable over and over again. Generally there is a feel that this game has been rushed and not refined and tested through-out the scenarios to see how the AI interacts and plays.
