An interesting idea for a game that ultimately isn't for me.

There are two things you should know:

1. The game is a very slow burn. Processes can take from a few hours or several days in real time to complete. My first production order to mine some ore would take 13 hours. This isn't a bad thing per-say, it was just unexpected.

2. This is a freemium game. Sure, you can play it for free, but you will be severely limited. It costs about 9 US dollars a month if you want to reach any sort of "late game" scale.

What can't you do without paying?
  • Automate (I think any) production
  • Have your company assigned a trust rating (sounds critical if you want to be a big player)
  • Trade on local markets
  • Have more than 2 ships
  • Design custom ships
  • Create your own corporation
  • Trade foreign currencies
  • Run for governor of a planet
  • And several other things

I do commend them for their UI design. They have created a robust menu system with awesome levels of control. Reminds me of the customizations of games like Eve Online.

A well made game, but not quite what's advertised.

The first line of the description states the game is a "Mil-Sim paced tactical multiplayer shooter". While it has enough weapon mechanics to be considered a Mil-Sim, It is definitely not paced like one. When I think Mil-Sim, I think America's Army, Squad, or Arma. Onward is more paced like CS;GO - two teams of five on a small map that ends in a few minutes. While the co-op mode is a bit slowed down, there is no denying that losing half your team to a single grenade in the first 5 seconds of a match in nowhere near Mil-Sim.

A proper Mil-Sim game fosters a tactical and methodical play style. Onward plays like a twitch-shooter with run and gun tactics.

It does make me a bit sad to see the wasted potential of Onward. It has the mechanical depth and complexity that would make for an amazing military game with large teams and expansive maps. While some tweaking would need to take place for the larger scale, Onward could have been the next Squad or Arma, but in VR.

If you love CS;GO, you will likely enjoy Onward. For us that prefer slow-paced, tactical Mil-Sims; we will keep on waiting for a true VR Mil-Sim to come.

Hey, you. You're finally awake. You were trying to cross the border, right? Walked right into that Imperial ambush, same as us, and that thief over there.

Firewatch is by far one of my favorite story games. The story is saddening but captivating, and is sprinkled with humor and mystery. Everything about the game is beautiful. From the voices to the graphics and finally to the music.

The game involves mainly exploring the world as the story unfolds.

As far as playtime, Firewatch is like a detail packed movie. There are so many details to find and read that a second replay is well worth it. Plus, The dev commentary mode can bring more. (I plan to do both a replay and dev commentary run in the future)

My recomedation? Don't watch any reviews, don't look at any spoilers. The less you know about the story, the better. All you need to know is that it is amazing.

Back in the day of Robo-Craft's beta, it adopted the gameplay of the popular World of Tanks game; two 15-tank teams, no respawns, a capture point at each team's spawn, 10 tiers for tanks, and a xp based leveling system. For a long while, things got better. They added an origanal new gamemode, mega-bots, wings, and other smaller things. Soon though, it all went downhill. They removed everything that the game was. They alienated their long time players. What they have done to the game will ultimatly become it's downfall.

I got the beta years ago and had several hundered hours on the standalone launcher and later 160 more hours through Steam. I'll never play a single minute of this dissapointment of a game again.

The new ace of spades ruined what was good about the original.
