For the last decade I just assumed I had changed and didn't like games as much anymore because I missed the joy and fascination that I found in my younger years in Final Fantasy 2, 3, 7, 8, 9, and 10, that just... stopped existing anywhere. These plot-driven, story-driven, turn based games with cut scenes and nonsensical elements that show passion and creativity and drive seemed to vanish from video games, being replaced by corporate strategy design and loot boxes and annual passes for collaborations with pop bands to drive profit metrics higher. I am................... so........ so grateful that this game was made, and so grateful to feel this same joy again so many years later.

I would recommend this game to people aged 35-50, who maybe played FF7 when they were kids and always dreamed of what these characters might look like in stunningly beautiful high definition graphics.

This remake is SO incredibly close to just being a breathtaking game. The story-line is great, the characters are voiced so incredibly well, the graphics are absolutely incredible, and for the most part, the remakes of Nobuo Uematsu's original music are done respectfully. What I cannot get over are two things: the combat is just horrible. In no way is this an improvement over any game I have played in the last 20 years, and secondly, the controls are AWFUL.

I understand that they made this game FOR consoles, but I had to GOOGLE basic things like "how to get to the in game menu", because I couldn't figure it out. In 700 other games, it's "escape,", but no, the button is "M", which I found from a Reddit post from someone else who couldn't figure it out. It's like - have these people never used a computer before? Every control seems like it was mapped haphazardly with no consideration for how people who play on a computer might expect to play a game like this. Also - what's with all the parts where I cannot run, and I have. to. walk. at. like. a. speed. of. 3. feet. per. year? This game COULD have been absolutely perfect, but these little things absolutely kill it, and years after its release these things have not been fixed or modified in any way. If you can get past the things that make this game SO frustrating to play, it truly is incredible to experience FF7 in this new light, but I think for someone who didn't play it as a kid, they'd just think it was a really poorly made console port.

Absolutely breathtaking and stunning game. The graphics, the voice acting (in French), the puzzles, the subtlety of things... The story pulls you in from the get-go and just doesn't let go. I am so happy to have played a game that finally does a GOOD JOB of telling a story. There's no gimmicks, no "here's a giant open world with absolutely no storyline", nothing that feels rushed or hurried, just an absolutely astonishing game that was worth every single penny I paid for it.

Early Access Review
It's a lot of fun - like pokemon meets fortnite. Even for an early access game, there is just a lot to do and the fun keeps coming! I would love to see more... plot, of any type, and a centralized server would be nice, but for the cost, it's definitely very fun

Updated Review:
At some point in the past year, there was a patch that basically broke this entire game. I have spent hours and hours on forums trying every fix, but I cannot play the game for more than 15 minutes at a time without it crashing. This is a complete travesty as this truly is a GOOD game, but the developers have not fixed this issue, so the game is broken, and I can't recommend anyone buy a broken game.

Original Review:
Very beautiful and fun game. Can spend hours just kind of wandering around. The voice acting is superb, and the story line is fun. I wish it were... bigger - I feel like it should have been an MMO, with all the work that went into it. In the end, it seems like nothing REALLY matters, in terms of the choices you make throughout the game, but it is really fun regardless.

One thing I will say though, if you do not have a graphics card that can run everything on ULTRA, the game really kinda looks like garbage and has a lot of weird artifacts. It will run on anything, but it does not "scale down" well.

After 3,000 hours of Civ 6, I can thoroughly say I do not recommend it. I've been playing the Civilization series since Civ 1, and played every version in between. This game, while graphically beautiful, just doesn't do the series justice. The AI, while improved since launch day, is still abysmal. They seem to have put a lot of money into voice actors and graphics teams, and not very much into gameplay. It's stale, the victory types are very unfulfilling, and is more about just memorizing which things need to be done in order to win. The units are mostly a joke - you only need about 4 of them to win. Cultural and religious victories are very tedious and just... not fun. The whole game is just... not fun. Where as I can still play Civ 4 over and over, Civ 6 - even after several expansion packs and patches, is just not worth it. I give up!

-------------------------------------

Update: Eh....... I'm at 4,114 hours now. I guess I will change this to Yes. The game has its flaws, but at the end of the day it is top tier compared to the absolute garbage they're calling Civ 7.
