Dune: Awakening is a very good game overall. The design, graphics, and gameplay mechanics work together almost perfectly and create an immersive experience. Exploring the world, building, and progressing through the early and mid-game feels satisfying and well thought out.

Unfortunately, the fun starts to fade when you are forced to enter the Deep Desert and farm resources in PvP zones. The developers added a PvE section of the Deep Desert, but farming any meaningful amount of spice sand there would take an absurd amount of time — realistically far more than most players would ever want to spend.

The bigger problem is the player behavior in the Deep Desert. Many players fly around killing anything they see, even though they gain almost nothing from it except the satisfaction of ruining the experience for others. If you encounter them, you basically have only two options: either you have missiles on your ornithopter and can defend yourself, or you are carrying a container and have no way to fight back.

Playing solo in the Deep Desert is essentially suicide.

It also seems unlikely that the developers will change their philosophy — the endgame appears to be designed primarily for PvP players. Because of this, I would not recommend the game to people who want a PvE-focused experience. In the endgame, you will mostly end up as easy prey for PvP players.
