Never played the original but this remake is super fun, the horror aspect of choosing whether to have life support or lights is killer!

Although the first miniboss is terribly annoying and overpowered, the combat becomes much more relaxed immediately after that point. The stamina use is extremely high, but it is INTENDED that you use perfect cooldowns to refill your stamina bar throughout the longer fights. Cool concept, I like the setting of Revolutionary France for their to be an automaton uprising.

Running an AMD 7800XT card and I haven't experienced any of the instability issues mentioned across the internet. Not sure if the card manufacturers just fixed it themselves or there was a patch that addressed the crashes.

Combat/Gameplay 7/10
Graphics 7/10
Sound 8/10
Music 6/10
World/Story 8/10

This game had a slew of ads precluding the release and I'd hardly heard about it six months ago.

After HD2 came out I thought I'd found the ridiculous teamwork game I needed.

Then I watched some gameplay of this and tried it. It blows HD2 out of the water. The graphics are top-notch, the details of the levels with the loot spawns in random areas, some rooms packed, others sparse or completely empty, it feels like a long-abandoned and looted world. The locations are all massive and GORGEOUS with another on the way, I imagine any number of new maps could be in the works.

The gameplay is crisp and responsive but my fingers are too clumsy to accurately hit all the keys in WASD, it might be easier on a controller. The sound is insane, hearing footsteps rooms away and looking for someone around every corner, with ARC always ready to pop you with a stun or fire. Hearing the Queen fights from underground is otherworldly.

The retro-futuristic music is also spot on, with the load screens amping up before every match.

Playing solo 95% of the people I encounter are friendly, with only a small number being outright hostile, every time shooting me in the back. They forgot the real enemy!

Play it, it's super fun, super unpredictable, and I can't wait to fight Barons and Matriarchs!

Well, it's what we want. It's a progression of better an better outfits that we like to fight in. The graphics are phenomenal, the gameplay is phenomenal, and welp, we all know the rest.

The graphics are some of the best I've ever seen, especially in a full action title.

The input during the battles make the formerly passive, boring turn based strategy into a living breathing fight, and after learning the attack and spell slots, the battle is nearly seamless and full speed. The parry timing is tough to learn, but once learned the enemies melt.

The setting is utterly unique, the scenery so utterly helpless and broken that the skies themselves are torn asunder. The sound is perfect from the crunch of gravel underfoot, to the noises emanating from the areas, to the battle sounds of smashes, deflects, dodges, and breaks.

The music is simply unmatched. ER is close, but the traipsing lilt of the background music exploring the open world brings a peaceful serenity to it.

The characters are all instantly endearing, with the voice acting backing up the tension, fear, and outright comedy gold the entire time.

Even if you don't like Turn-Based games, try this, it's a whole different vibe from any I've ever played!

11/10, my new favorite game of all time. Period.

Early Access Review
This game is already the best ARPG of all time, and it's not even finished yet. The voice acting is great, the graphics are amazing, the music is on point, and best of all, it'll be free when it's finished!

The introduction is cinematic and high stakes with no options to save for about the first 40-50 minutes!

After that, the combat is pretty easy to pick up, the dodging is reactive, and having played this after Stellar Blade it seems to be a fairly similar style of play! Extremely addicting, five hours in my first day! Graphics hold up even after 7 years. Very good looking game! But I have my character zoomed out for exploration and combat, so it may be a bit more clunky up close.

Sound and music are solid in this game, and the voice acting is good as well.

9/10 would recommend for sure!

Incredible graphics and absolute dreamlike zen settings make this game incredible.

The combat is tougher than most hack and slash types, with more of a DMC Stylish form of execution contributing to your success. If you can finish a combo and heavy attack finisher on most bosses, they will stagger out of their attacks!

Your magic can be used on every boss! Freeze their time, juke them with a shadow clone, or use a devastating combo to stop their onslaught before they can deal damage. Perch high on your staff to avoid damage, change combos into an unlimited onslaught, or poke and evade as you see fit. All of these fighting forms can be switched actively to chain skills for the highest level of BONK!

Punishing bosses, challenging gameplay, and some of the best graphics I've ever seen contribute to a game that is fully engaging.

Graphics 10/10
Gameplay 10/10 (learning curve is severe)
Challenge 10/10
Sound 10/10
Story 9/10 but only because I'm not done yet!

Just finished my second playthrough on New Game Plus.

This game is a souls-like for those who want a lighter challenge. The enemies are mostly automatons that move more slowly, with endgame enemies rushing to attack and boss challenges that test time and patience.

The graphics are absolutely incredible. The fight mechanics of attacking, blocking, and parrying feel just right! (Easier than Elden Ring) Definitely more appealing to a casual player. It allows for a dodge style, a parry style, and an all-out-BONK style of play that are equally rewarding. The sound design is fantastic, with collectibles creating an even better soundscape in the safe zones. The story and character development are top notch, the re-imagining of Pinocchio, the twisted story that takes it from a "Be good or else," to "Lies may prove more useful in the end." The story twists keep you guessing until the very end.

10/10 would recommend.
Graphics 10
Sound 9.5
Story 10
Gameplay 10
Voice acting 11

Do yourself a favor and play this if you like to hack and slash, you'll love it!

Very fun game to play when it works! The game crashes randomly and regularly. I'm hoping some of the growing pains work themselves out in the coming weeks, they need massive massive server upgrades for their player counts!

Gameplay is perfection! Visuals are stunning! Worth the twenty minutes trying to login.
