Mount and Blade is a hard game to describe. All of the elements it has are very basic. The overworld is basic. The character development is basic. The control of your army is basic. Initially, everything can seem outdated and underwhelming. But if you get into it MnB is a great series. Few games offer the same thrill of charging across a field with 100 of your soldiers behind you into an enemy army and manually controlling each sword swing, or storming up the ladder of a castle to fight your way into it. This is a game where you can be a simple trader having an army of bodyguards or an aspiring dictator who tries to control the world. Or you can just enter tournaments and beat people over the head with wooden sticks. The combat system is fantastic, allowing you full control of each swing and block. You have to time you attacks right to hit your opponent otherwise you're just bashing their shield, leaving yourself open to retaliation. A very fun game that everyone should have in their collection.
