The Ascent: A Expensive Virtual Journey ($1100)

The "Ascent Free-Roaming VR Experience" was a disappointment. The graphics were lackluster, the gameplay repetitive, and the tracking system glitchy. With limited games and a price tag that made me question my life choices, it failed to deliver an immersive and enjoyable VR adventure. Not recommended unless you have money to burn and a desire for disappointment.

After more than 3,000 hours on the Wargaming launcher and another 1,000 hours on Steam, I honestly can’t recommend World of Tanks. What started as a promising concept has turned into a frustrating experience.

Pay-to-Win Mechanics:
The game’s balance is heavily undermined by premium tanks and premium ammo. Spending real money gives clear advantages, and over time it becomes obvious that skill often matters less than how much you’re willing to pay.

Grind-Focused Gameplay:
Progression is painfully slow and repetitive. Instead of tactical tank battles, much of the game feels like endless grinding. It stops being fun and starts feeling like a chore.

Unbalanced Matchmaking:
Matchmaking is wildly inconsistent. Inexperienced players are regularly thrown in with veterans, leading to one-sided matches. At higher tiers, this problem is even worse when paid advantages are added on top.

Toxic Community:
The community can be rough. Chat is often filled with insults and harassment, and there’s very little effort to encourage a more welcoming or respectful environment.

In short, World of Tanks is a game with a strong core idea that’s been dragged down by greed and poor design choices. If you’re looking for fair, skill-based tank combat, you’re probably better off elsewhere.
