I was avoiding having to write a review about this game because I truly do wish for it to succeed and thrive as a childhood favorite. This IP holds a special place in my heart so it's a damn shame that I have to say I do not recommend this game in it's current execution and state.

What do I mean by execution? Well....
It doesn't have proper prevention in place against exploits and the developers have no real way of detecting and patching exploits. This is a huge problem because it directly hits the integrity of the game and majority of the loyal community end up using the same exploits because they need to in order to keep up with the others that do the same.

In short, the games integrity is completely non-existent, nevermind the issues with the games monetization which are EXTREMELY aggressive. You can drop 200 dollars on "box enhancement" rolls which would potentially net you NO gains on a single piece of equipment - there are roughly 6 pieces which can be graded. So 1200+ on average is needed.

The resolutions the developers have employed in the past were also shoddy at best where people still got away with the exploits even after the patches were applied.

- Items which were technically unobtainable were silently banked and circulated, trillions of in-game currency were laundered to small groups when the game first came out and there were exploits on a timegated dungeon to run it infinitely.
-There were graphical exploits that allowed players to buy end game gear for cheap at an NPC shop, and they sold for billions of in-game currency to those who were unaware.
-The developers awarded billions of in-game currency to the top damage dealer of the daily raid which is a known hacker in the community, so they rewarded the individual who least deserved it

The list goes on and on. The developers are WAY too inexperienced and lack the talent/staffing to run this game. It shouldn't be released with the current condition and build that it is currently in. It's a damn shame that this IP has to be dragged through the mud 15 years after it's initial closure, but the same issues that plagued it back then, are brought back and plaguing it again.

I don't recommend this game on the basis that the integrity of the game will never be fixed. It's running on an old custom engine from 2007 and has only seen tape-and-glue resolutions to it's most serious problems. It needs to be retired and entirely rehauled in a new engine, properly modernized for the public, and the team needs to begin practicing regular industry standard procedures which they do not. I've never seen an established IP operate exclusively through their discord - this is truly a first for me in many years.

An absolute masterpiece. I don't think words could simply describe the experience you go through playing this game. It's now my most loved game on Steam. If you're a beginner to RPGs, please don't let that stop you from experiencing this game. It's very beginner friendly.

TL;DR - Give it a shot if you're a MMO enjoyer at heart, it's got a lot of good qualities.

I'm having a lot of fun with this game. The combat feels great, the community is great, and it's got a lot of amazing story elements. Side quests don't feel like side quests and actual substantive story/plot points. I see a lot of GW2 elements in the game and i'm loving it. If you're an MMO enjoyer at heart, I highly recommend you try the game.

Is it a KMMO at the end of the day? Yes, it's got it's P2W elements but don't let that stop you from trying the game. P2W elements in this game are nowhere near as egregious as people are claiming it is. The leveling system for armors, skills, etc are straightforward and very generous in handing out upgrade materials.

I'm not a Souls player by any stretch of the imagination, but I really enjoy this game. I started this game as a spell caster and quit the game after playing it for about 2 hours because it was really annoying. After the DLC got announced I decided to give this game another go but this time I would start as a different "class". I chose Spear and literally haven't put the game down. It's so beautiful, and every character has meaning in the world. The weight of every fight and the victory is just so satisfying. I haven't even reached the DLC yet but I look forward to getting my s*** rocked.

New review:

After playing this game for 1600+ hours, the game has glaring issues and I WANT to love the game as a fan since finding it back in 2017. The devs and the publisher have taken a beautiful world and turned it into a FOMO gambling machine that sucks up all your time and commitments. You will pay top dollar for trying to keep up with the endgamers and will STILL be gatekept because you lack 0.001% of their damage. My review is emotionally charged and i'm being hyperbolic because I am passionate about this game and WANT to see it succeed, but not like this. This game will be dead sooner than later. It makes me sad that I had to say goodbye to this game. So much potential wasted.....

Original review:

The game is in a storytelling marvel, and offers so much content that you could fill an entire day with Lost Ark alone and still have plenty left over to do. While we are in Alpha testing I will hold off on making any comments as a final review - but, in the interim I will say I have been enjoying the game so, so much. While Amazon Games has stumbled in the past with past titles, I feel they will do a good job publishing the title for a western audience. Cheers to the staff who have worked around the clock, and cheers to the community who has waited tirelessly since they heard about the game for it's arrival to the west. We made it, lads. ♥

It's a great game that has some unwarranted criticisms but I hope that the developers take this sort of artistic freedom and build on it in the future. The game itself is (imho) not worth 60$ in some respects. It's dependent upon your objective with the game. I think the lore could have been narrowed down further to give a more coercive experience but we're left with a somewhat vague "between" of storytelling as it's being told through the narrator but we're experiencing important moments regarding the characters personal history. I think they did their best with this storytelling device but it fell off short for me personally.

Wonderful game overall, would highly recommend the buy.
