a solid follow up to tetris effect. due to the different natures of the game (and lumines being a tad less "competitive"/"known") there's more effects with the backgrounds, puzzle pieces and theming. i would say there's less of a wow factor because this game exists in a post tetris effect world, but that does not diminish the quality of the work that was put into this. as an aside : i think the icons you can customize are cuter than whatever we had going on in tetris effect.

a solid selection of tracks, playlist mode lets you pick your favorite stages to play on, and there's a decent amount of accessibility (actual accessibility options) & difficulty settings, including changing how blocks are dropped.

as a point of criticism as of writing this : i wish we had a bit more options or there was some clean up work done, because some block sets are a bit harder to parse, and sometimes the UI gets a bit too lit up and makes it hard to see things like upcoming blocks. nothing major but things that can slightly get irksome here and there.

i do still think it's worth your time and money. if you aren't certain, you can always grab lumines remastered on sale for a handful of dollars, make up your mind, and come pick this up later!

if i didn't have other games to play, this game would be the only thing i would play for weeks.
