It's more like Mafia II. It's a really great game that takes you back to the 1980s in America.
I wasn't there in those years, so I can't tell you and make comparisons in the authenticity of the locations or the action. Considering that this is an author's project and an artistic motif has been added...Don't take it too seriously...But play it! Considering that this is a free prologue.

I also liked that some of the mechanics were taken from Thief Simulator, there are quests where we have to crack doors and it's just awesome <3
