This would be a very beneficial game if Valve just allowed more development on it. It is currently on its highest player base then ever before, if Valve gave some attention to it ( like fixing casual and getting a better anti cheat). If you are interested in the game play on servers like Uncltopia, so you can get a grasp of the game when casual and competitive come back.
