A very fun game, with a lot of good writing and interesting mysteries - it's let down a little bit by some "chokepoint" clues that can end up very adventure-game-y in that you have figured out something and know what to do, but Declan (your character) hasn't hit the right set of triggers to go "oh, that!" - these were relatively rare, but given the game wants you to solve everything, they were annoying to butt against.

On the down side, I have to say the central mystery of the game is a bit of a letdown in how it ends. To say a lot with very little, its a very Sherlock Holmes ending.

That said, I had fun with the journey, not the destination, so consider this a wavering thumbs up, especially if you like adventure games.

Early Access Review
Fun little roguelite deckbuilder. It's very "learn the rules of the game and try to break it over your knee."
Almost like thats the name of the game or something

While it's early access, it does feel like the core gameplay loop and content is there, so its a fun play even now with different "gameplay styles" that you can engage in.

If I had a wish-list of things, some of which I'm sure will be added during Early Access - one would be a "battle log" so that you can see what happened in previous turns - the game offers a "pause cards until you click through" option while learning, but you'll quickly turn this off once you learn the basics, but it can be a bit overwhelming when you hit an enemy with new mechanics who suddenly blitzes your face and a log would help.

The second would be some way to cut cards from your deck - I get its somewhat a design constraint to force you to think about how your deck is put together balancing candy (mana)/cards/star generation (or the things you generate that generate stars), but sometimes you're left leaving blank cards in your deck because having any stickers on it is worse than a dead draw, which isn't ideal

I got wormed and lost everything, and then a spice ghost told me I was basic and to take a new sandbike, and I told him where to shove it.

Fun, interesting writing that keeps you guessing - the gameplay is a tad repetitive at times, but the dialogue and art carries it through!

Fun RNG-but-not-too-RNG roguelite - while the heart of the cards is at play, generally if you die its because you made a mistake earlier in your joker purchases/deck building - so "bad RNG" was more the last nail in the coffin than the whole make/break.

Like Vampire Survivors blended with The Typing of the Dead - it's a more active and brain engaging game then VS, but it hearkens to a lot of the technical skill aspects of it.

The music and graphics are super nice and lean well into the gameplay mechanics, which all feel high skill-ceiling enough that this is the kind of game that would appeal to people who want to learn one game inside and out.

If I have one complaint about the game its that I wish gems bounced further back from the edge of the screen - it feels extremely nervous making to go near the edge for gems, but at the same time you need those gems for score/fever/healing purposes. But this is admittedly an hour into playing the game, so it might be a skill issue too ;p

I would love to see a sequel/DLC in the future that adds VS style level ups/builds, but that's just ambitions for the future. Super fun game and recommended, especially for such a low price.
