Early Access Review
Soulmask is a spectacular game and is already one of the best games I've played and it's only in early access.

Soulmask's story drops you into the thick of things. You escaped a ritual sacrifice and stumble upon the Mask. From there on it's up to you to blaze your trail, surviving, growing and conquering the land. The combat is engaging and challenging, (Just wait till you get out in the jungle and find the animals) the crafting is fun and fulfilling and the tribes people you recruit along the way are possibly the best aspect of the game. You can recruit many people to your cause, "deterring" them with your mask and bring them into your own tribe. From there you can give them orders to fight alongside you, gather and craft at the base to keep your various works going strong.

Soulmask is also a game of mystery, what is the mask? Who is the mask? Why is the mask? (Asks Drax) I don't know yet, but I'm more than happy to spend another 300 hours finding out. The game's horizontal and vertical progression through gear and crafting is highly addictive and rewarding and the various types of mask give a ton of variety as to how you approach the game. With great visuals and stunning scenery, base building has much potential for function and form a like.

As it is an early access game, there are a few kinks to be ironed out but the responses of the Dev team to the players and the frequent updates are a very promising start. The world is vast and filled with challenges and excitement from hour 1 to hour 10 to hour 100. I expect that to continue 10 hour 1000 and myself to keep playing it.

Surrender to the Mask! You won't regret it!

As I previously stated I have really enjoyed MPQ for the longest time, I have not just hundreds of hours but thousands. Something that has impressed me over the last few days is the willingness of members of the development team to step into what was a hostile and unforgiving environment in order to better their game for those who play it. They would suffer many barbs, slings and arrows in the pursuit of bettering their product for their consumers. While there may have been sinister motive or perhaps just coincidence made it seem so, they rose above this when the community reeled from the changes and acted to set things right on our behalf. Communication may have been flawed initially but despite this, there was work done to fix the issues that upset the community and it was done with great speed and expediency.

I am happy to admit that I was wrong about a few aspects and that I was hasty in my judgement. Whether or not my negative review or comments played a part or not, I feel that the act of listening and working towards a better goal refuted many of my complaints. It is a team that cares and tries to make the game better for the community. I think that desire will endure and prevail over bad game play decisions. I think a good attitude going forward and the will to listen and adapt to the community is an amazing quality when involved in a game that has to change to remain relevant and interesting. Communication could stand to improve going forward but I will certainly be around as the developers have shown they do care and will put in a great amount of work to actually improve our experience instead of simply going through the motions for profit.

I would recommend this great game that has an excellent team behind it.
