When I was thinking what I was going to write in this review, I thought I would go easier on this game. I'm sure for people who understand the memes and context it is hilarious and all.

BUT

The game is horrible. Level design is nonsensical, enemies and weapons are Quake reskins. The fact this game is paid is a spit in the face to all actually talented Quake modders who share their skills and passion for free.

It would be fine but the levels are not only nonsensical, they also feel bad to play and navigate. Geometry is... I don't think words can describe, if you want to subject yourself to it just play a video on youtube.

Save yourself money and time, grab literally any Quake mod and have 10x the fun.

Or just buy Quake if you don't own it yet somehow.

Where do you even start... Terrrible FOV with no slider (config tweaks didn't work), atrocious wheel support, incredibly tight limits, lookaround that pretty much glues your head forwards, basic mode that is just a top down camera (just let me switch???), awkward menus, dreadful defaults (STEERING IS NON LINEAR BY DEFAULT). The wheel lunges max to one side during loading screens for no reason.

I got this game for free and I feel robbed. Controls are nonsensical and pretty much unchangeable just for a generic controller, no tutorial, nothing.

It took me 15 minutes to beat this game

The game is mired by technical problems, but the core gameplay is really solid. Guns are extremely satisfying and the looks are something I've grown to like.

The game is very different from 1 and 2, similarly to how new Dooms are each different from each other.

What is NOT good however is easier to pinpoint. Server issues, Husks, balancing is a tragedy, Husks, boss damage, whatever is going on with Vulcan charging (horrible input buffers), Husks, melee hit detection even offline, Husks and also Husks, weapon attachment RNG, Husks, severely lacking content, Husks.

But I DID and still do have a lot of fun playing,

I'm tired with the censorship boss. Can you ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ stop ruining games?

Unfortunately, this one misses the mark for me. It starts of really good, the gunplay is way better than in one. But it feels worse and worse with every stage. Enemy design, with few exceptions, is full of purely annoying pests. These pests for some reason hit like an elephant. The gameplay feels like Doom, but with faster and stronger projectiles, without proper tools to avoid them which forces you to spam the only tool you don't have in doom - jumping. Weapon variants, while fun, feel more restrictive than liberating. They also decided to butcher the abilities. You have dozens of upgrades, passive and active - and you can choose only 3. Total. 3 active = 0 passive upgrades and vice versa. A lot of baffling decisions in later level designs too.

The sound design's ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ good though. And the shooting itself is incredibly solid

The 2.0 update completely breaks VR. The new clouds are abysmal and tank FPS like crazy
