This is one of those games that makes you feel like a kid again, and despite its aspects that have not aged well, it's still a fun time. It's a bit on the easier side, but not every game/metroidvania has to be difficult. The gameplay is very fluid, the cartoony artstyle is extremely unique, and the music is fantastic. The story is simple, but again, feels like a game that you'd love as a kid, and it's still a pretty good time as an adult.

I don't really have much else to say about the game. It's old, flawed, but has its charm and I think for what it is, I liked it a lot and would recommend to anyone.

As someone who's played Team Ladybug's previous Metroidvania project, Touhou: Luna Nights and loved it, I'm glad to say that their first high-tier original project holds up in terms of quality and overall fun.

Blade Chimera in my opinion is an extremely competent game, one that does the majority of things right if not impressively well. Though, I will say, as a hardcore Metrovania fan, I can't say it's amongst my top 5 favourites. Other games like Blasphemous 1/2, The Last Faith, a large majority of the actual Castlevania games and even some other games that I'm not even crazy about like Hollow Knight (I know, bite me) still vastly surpass Blade Chimera in terms of quality. But that doesn't take away the fact that the game is still pretty good.

I'd call Blade Chimera "baby's first Metroidvania" because compared to its influences, it's on the easier side. But that's not exactly a negative, and the game excels in pretty much every other area. Map design is fun and intricate, the story is relatively straight forward but has its charm, the combat and overall gameplay is fluid and very well polished, and there's a certain layer of freedom when it comes to how you play the game, as the abilities you unlock allow to do different tasks in multiple interesting ways.

When it comes to presentation, I have no notes. The pixelart is brilliant and a marvel to look at, and the music is stellar. Team Ladybug has some seriously talented people on their art department. I really hope this carries over to their future projects.

Overall, this game is an absolute must whether you're new to the genre or a veteran. I'd give it 8/10 for the effort, and if it's on sale, you should definitely go for it.

I really do like this game. It does feel like a retro survival horror game and it does most things right. Although, I can see why a lot of people dislike it.

All of the survival horror mechanics work wonderfully, and I really don't have anything bad to say about it. The story itself really sells you on the idea that war is hell, and there's a lot of moments where you don't feel like a hero, but rather you feel like a soldier following orders. And I think that's dope.

Though for sure the worst part of this game is the backtracking. Now, as a veteral Resident Evil fan, I'm really not bothered by that aspect of the game. But if you're a player that wants your horror game to be more fast-paced, this is not the game for you.

Aside from that, this game really delivers when it comes to sheer brutality of war. It's one of the most gripping descriptions of the World Wars I've seen a while, and to be honest, there's nothing quite like it.

All in all, I enjoy my time with this game a lot and I think people should give it a try despite its shortcomings.

When it comes to Blasphemous 2, I do think it is on the same level as the first game when it comes to sheer quality.

I do think the Blasphemous 1 is the better game overall, but Blasphemous 2 still delivers when it comes to bosses, level design, soundtrack, and just overall enjoyability. It does a lot of things better than the first game, and the things it doesn't do better, it just does it in a different way.

The game at launch was a little too easy, but as it stands now, the enemies and bosses have been tweaked to provide more of a challenge. The worldbuilding is still amazing, the gameplay has been drastically improved to be more adaptable and interesting, and the amount of content has been doubled, so even if you don't have the DLC, there's still plenty of things you can do and pursue.

I also just have to give Carlos Viola his own spotlight, because this soundtrack is absolutely marvelous, and miles better than the first game. This might just be one of the best videogame soundtracks ever, and it's not even close. The soundtrack is for sure a part of the game they did not skip upon.

Overall, Blasphemous 2 is a very solid experience that does not disappoint. I would recommend it to anyone who's played the first game, and also to anyone who's a fan of Metroidvanias.

Great game. 8/10, do recommend.

Blasphemous is exactly what a Metroidvania should be. The progression is suberb, the art is immaculate, and the sound design/soundtrack is godlike. The story and worldbuilding is the best part of the game by far, but everything else is the same level of quality.

This game is something special, and should try it no matter what.

I'l be honest... this game is really not worth your time. At all.

Whether you're a Touhou fan or not, this game doesn't deliver in pretty much anything. This is a lackluster Doom WAD with a Touhou coat of paint put on top of it. Even for Doom standards, the level design is ridiculously simple and uninteresting. One of the levels is literally just an ascending elevator while enemies are thrown on top of you. In any other game, that would be a small segment of the level, not the entire level itself. Besides that, every other level is just flat with a flight of stairs every now and then.

The gunplay is boring as well. It's your average doomer shooter, you run and shoot. And that would be fine if your arsenal was interesting, but it isn't. There isn't any situation in this game where you think "Oh I should switch to this weapon", because every enemy dies in two shots or so from your revolver and you have an absurd amount of ammo to spend for it. As so, this game spams enemies everywhere, so all you do is run, hide and mindless shoot until your screen is cleared. That's it for the entire game, aside from bosses.

To be fair, the game tries to replicate the danmaku/bullet-hell aspect of the original games, but unlike the original games where you have to memorize patterns and focus hard to dodge the barrage, here you just hide behind a wall until there's an opening and then you just spam shoot at the enemy. Because otherwise, dodging the projectiles is nearly impossible due to how many there are and how big your character's hitbox is (Reimu joke here hahah). If I'm hiding around corners in a boomer shooter, that's not good. But in this one, it's the best strategy.

Other than that, graphics are fine, music is great but it's just average remixes of ZUN's original compositions, and there's no story at all. You're Sakuya, and you shoot your way through the Scarlet Devil Mansion. There's also typos and cringy jokes sprinkled in, so that's fun.

I'm normally not so harsh on games, I like playing bad games. But considering this game's price, and the fact the Doom modding community has some real gems that are FREE (Ashes Afterglow, Godless Night, Shrine II, Total Chaos, etc), this game kinda pisses me off, especially as a Touhou fan. If it was a parody wad at Doomworld it'd be fine, but as a greenlit Steam game that's being sold with the Touhou label, it's just bad.

Don't buy this game. If you want a good Touhou fangame, play Luna Nights. Different genres, but it has actual passion to it.

Only real bad part of this game is that it's painfully short.

Other than that, it's a must-have for any survival horror fan.

So, you know Terraria? The game that's been around for 10+ constantly churning out new and exciting content with every new update? A game with a community so dedicated that it averages as one of Steam's most played games ever since its release?

What if I told you that you can add even MORE exciting content, made by the community itself, that's just as well made and fresh as what the developers are capable off?

It's real, and it's tModLoader. Give it a whirl, you won't regret it.

One of the most frustrating games I've played in a while.

I play it every day and I don't plan on stopping.

Coming back to the DLC after playing on console, I'll just say that the main problem with this DLC is lack of content.

The whole Painted World of Ariandel is laughly short, and while I don't necessarily think the area is badly designed when it comes to enemies and level, I still think a lot more could've been done, because there really isn't a lot of stuff for you to do here.

The two bosses you encounter are decent, especially the final boss, which is actually a really good one, but since the DLC feels so short, actually beating the boss really just leaves you wanting for more. And that's where Ringed City comes into play, I suppose. But eh, still.

Overall, a decent DLC that's definitely overpriced. Get this with the Season Pass during a sale or not at all.
