Syberia is an amazing, imaginative game and reminiscent of my childhood. I love this game and think the characters, world, and story are endlessly enjoyable. If there was anything I would say is tough about playing this game now, the game crashed for me multiple times. It's important to remember that back then when this came out, there was NO AUTOSAVE! Save often, save multiple files, and enjoy the ride!

Telltale Games makes some of the greatest story-based adventure games in the video game world right now. The Walking Dead was the first time I had heard of them. Although dealing with episodic releases can be difficult to wait for, they delivered a powerhouse of plot in this first season. I spent a lot of time trying to walk around and explore every possibility and wound up with 16 hours of gameplay. If you're a fan of story and adventure, this game is definitely meant to be in your collection.

I've been waiting on giving a review on this game because I'm not sure I can express my feelings towards it appropriately, but here it goes. I'm a huge fan of Cyan and consider Myst to be one of the founding fathers of modern immersive games. When I originally saw that Cyan was coming back with a new game, I was worried that something might be lost in Obduction, but ever since they began releasing teaser trailers and images my faith was reinforced.

Obduction is a gorgeous game. I played it on a decent Windows gaming rig at full graphics and only experienced occasional lagging at certain effects like the loading between worlds. If there is one thing about modern adventure games that I've been missing, it's the characters you can attach to. In Myst, you had Atrus, Catherine, Sirrus, and Achenar, and more as the games went on. This game leaves you with C.W. (Robyn Miller) and a couple holographic characters here and there, but even just these characters help you understand the world as a character. The interactions with C.W. keep you on the right track of what needs to be done and where you need to go.

This game is amazing for any adventure-based puzzle junky like myself. I bought this game as soon as I could and played it non-stop until I beat it. I am proud to say that I never looked up how to do any puzzles, and it took about 17 hours to complete. Upon completion, I loved it. It is a great ride.

I was lucky enough to meet a collection of the developers at PAX East 2017, and can honestly say that this team is amazing to their audience. For any independent studio, that is the greatest thing I can ever see. Everyone right up to the CEO is a gem, and I couldn't recommend supporting their projects enough.

If you're looking for a beautiful adventure within a world of curiosity and wonder, give this game a spin, you won't regret it!

Runaway: A Twist of Fate is an amazing cap to the Runaway series. All of the gameplay issues that appeared on the prior two titles have been finely-tuned into a fun romp through the Brian/Gina world. There were only a couple aspects that felt lacking compared to the other titles.

Pros
- The hotspot system is a life-saver from the pixel clicking issue.
- The hint system always keeps you progressing through the story, without getting lost on certain puzzles.
- The story was interesting and original, compared to the earlier two titles.
- The art felt revitalized and updated.

Cons
- The side-characters weren't as fleshed out as the other games, with the exception of Ernie.
- The game feels more like an iPad port rather than a PC game.
- Pendulo cemented themselves as an adventure game staple with the final installment on the trilogy.

This a great step up from the first installment in the Runaway series in many ways. The improvements are enough for me to say that I would recommend this game to a friend. Before I talk about what really worked for this game, let me say the big issues I experienced.

I broke the game in Act 2 by using the butter on Joshua while he worked on the bull, before I greased up the chain and untied it. This made it so I was unable to progress and it wound up taking me about an hour to finally consult the walkthrough and find out that it was impossible to continue. This is a really unfortunate thing to happen so early in the game, but I wish that was the worst thing I experienced. All of Act 4 was laggy beyond playability. I had to go through it with a walkthrough next to me, because every action took double the amount of time it should. If I did this legitimately, it probably would have taken a day just to play this one Act. Also, Joshua felt a little too much like the racially charged Mickey Rooney character in Breakfast at Tiffany's, which got overbearing at times.

The story is pretty good, and it definitely keeps you guessing with the inclusion of military and alien things. There are some great characters that you'll remember like Knife, O'Connor, and Archibald. I didn't understand that I was playing through a "To Be Continued" game though, which can be upsetting when you see it. I feel like Pendulo could have stated that better in the description on Steam, because after 20+ hours of figuring out puzzles, I want to see Brian save Gina!

All around, it's a great game, and I enjoyed all of the parts that played well. The logic through the game made sense, and it was fun to get the rewarding moments of successfully solving a puzzle. The cutscenes were also fun to watch, and it felt like they greatly added to the player having empathy to the characters.

I started playing Pendulo games back when The Next BIG Thing came out, and I felt like revisiting their arsenal. I read through the majority of reviews before playing this game and was quite worried at what to expect. I will start out by saying that yes, I do believe it deserves a thumbs up.

[WARNING: Save regularly because the game can crash occasionally]

The immediate follow-up to that statement is that it's not a perfect game. This game has a lot of things to talk badly about, and I find the majority of mine come down to having puzzles that require nonsensical logic to complete. The answer to this problem is to have a walkthrough handy. I don't support using walkthroughs in most games, but this one actually requires one. The rule of thumb should be, give yourself 10-30 minutes of being stuck/lost before you look up the next step. Most of the time, one step will be enough to get the ball rolling, and you won't need another. A couple of the sections of the game shouldn't require looking anything up, but I'd say that 50% of them do (3 out of 6 Areas).

The story is basic, and relatively easy to see where it's going to go, and I felt a lot of nods to Full Throttle in there as well. The voice acting can feel distracting more often than not, but some of the characters redeem this issue. Oscar stands out as a lovable oaf that reminds us all of Lenny from Of Mice and Men. Another thing that might distract people in a time where female characters are becoming more complex and fleshed out, is Gina, who plays the generic damsel in distress. Beyond that fact, she also tends to be clothed in practically nothing throughout the entire game. Her male game equivalent is seen outside of a barn in one of the areas, baking shirtless in the sun, chucking beer cans in a metal tin, but I digress.

This game is a decent ride, and on sale, it's a solid playthrough. Not to mention the fact that it's the first of multiple installments. You'll walk away remembering side characters like Sushi, Lula, Rutgers, Oscar, and possibly Saturn. The art style and story are certainly enough to make the game warrant a thumbs up in my book.
