good ass game

Honestly super fun, visually it looks like fortnite- which is disgusting, but I got used to it. The world feels half-alive and the bugs involving vanishing party members and the replay just straight up not working are annoying. But the gameplay is stupid dummie fun.

Would be 100x better if player collision was on and your head straight up exploded when you dive bombed into the ground from the top of the tallest building but whatever

hackers, EA app, nearly 100 gigs, game keeps minimizing, give this ip to someone else

In it's current state: I wouldn't fully recommend it UNLESS you love Runescape. Not for any game-breaking bugs or because it's bad, it's actually very fun. But 11 hours is all it took for me to feel like I experienced everything it has to offer.

However, this game is very well put together so far and has explosive potential. I do hope to keep playing and seeing tons more content and features added. And if you can trust that statement and have 30 dollars to spend, then I WOULD recommend it.

Things I don't love so far would be that every single entity from cows to the dragons are all equally hostile to an obnoxious degree. It feels like you can never catch a break and breathe; A goblin war band hunts you while you're collecting potatoes, you kill them. You try to get back to your task; a dragon is now randomly spewing oceans of acid around your tiny iron deposit raft, it flies away. You try to get back to your task; a giant rat is now leaping at you while an unreachable goblin is sticking you with arrows (completely ignoring each other), you kill them. You try to get back to your task; you have to stop building your house because you're taking hunger damage and a chicken disagrees with gods choice in your creation.

The combat and grinding is pretty good! But sometimes it can feel stubborn and weird, like extra swings by the time I've already let go of the key. There's too many times where things happened on my end without intention.

Things that I DO love so far: The heaviest value I get out of this game is seeing Runescape from an entirely new perspective, it's not something that I ever expected and I'm glad that we're trying this out! It's really cool!

Hearing a recontextualized version of the Harmony theme and seeing the default newbie outfit had me dusting off a 20 year old smile. To see familiar faces like Vannaka, goblins, runes, etc is half of what's got me fully locked in and ready for more. I hope that we can continue to lean heavily into these familiar themes. I hope to see more call backs like the classic look of the full plate armor and a spectrum of material quality that correlates to the original game, like black iron and rune and etc.

Things I'm looking forward to the most is expanded progression, incentives to grind, more skills like fishing and farming, wider diversity in enemies, more nostalgia(!) like cosmetics/armor/weapons/characters, and hopefully just more to do in the world overall. :)

I'm really glad I played this, I was so caught up in the story and amazing art direction that some parts I felt 'too stuck' doing a tedious task like stacking cans of fish eggs, but man I'm really happy with this game.

Music was flawless, visuals may as well have been from a film and uniquely stylized (even just the opening credits blew me away), getting 'points' when you do nun things was making me laugh- just a really really good game.

Embark is out here trying to make games fun again
