This is a terrible game. Essentially, no matter which nation you start out as, you're immediately attacked by overwhelming numbers of enemies who completely overrun your force, your allies refuse to come help, and you're slaughtered in the first few years with no chance to do anything. I experienced this in 4 different countries in completely different regions of the world that I started in. Combat is also completely unrealistic, as I attacked an enemy army of just 3k with an army of 58k and LOST. Don't waste your time with this garbage.

So pretty much all the negative reviews are people who just had no idea how to play the game, or thought it was something it wasn't. I beat this game with less than 40 hours and that was SERIOUSLY taking my time (over 150 battles fought, taking my time securing quorum support and side missions for requisition points). Not the greatest game ever, but definitely a great time sink that will keep you engaged, on your toes, and thinking.

Pros. Really FEELS like BSG. The atmosphere and ambiance are perfect. The ships are well detailed. The missions are challenging at just the appropriate level. If you're getting stuck on a mission, probably because you haven't thought of something you could do different / better. Even when I was at a point where EVERYONE online said I was boned, because I hadn't deployed Berserkers in all my fleets, I still found a very reliable way to defeat them and not take a single ship loss. The game gives you options, you can do it how you like... up to a certain point. I mean, obviously, yoloing a fleet of cerastes with a fleet of manticores is suicide, but hey.. you do you.

Cons. The story is a little weak but the SCRIPTING my GOD it's like this was targeted for a highschool freshman audience, and the voice acting was horrific. Almost intolerable. I almost wish they had just shut up and let me play other than force this amateurish "worse than crappy fan-fiction" writing on my ears. I get that it's hard to meet up to the standards of the show in terms of writing, but seriously, it's like they didn't even try. Not even a little. The UI is a little difficult to use quickly, and that's annoying, but I found that it actually helped me to slow down and really think about the orders I was giving. The battle replay cinematic camera scripting is actually not too bad considering how much can be going on at times, but I wish they would have weighted camera views on vipers and raptors less, so we can see the real stars of the show more often and get a better sense of what was actually happening on the field at the time.

Other than that, I'd definitely recommend it. Just don't overthink it and expect this to be some kind of crazy simulator, because it's not. It's a turn-based arcade game with more depth to it than you'd expect from a game of its type. Not a bare-bones crappy simulation that some people seem to be complaining about. It is what it is. Take the tools you've been given and go blow up some toasters.

This game literally gives me a headache. it's difficult to play it for any amount of time. It's absurdly repetitive and boring. The game encourages you to fully explore all the sectors, but if you stay in one sector too long, the game drops a massive force of enemies that you can't possibly defeat, meaning your only choice is to run to the next sector or die.

Upgrades are pointless. You're GOING to die and when you do you lose all your equipment you found. Perks are too slow to obtain and generally when you do get them, they're not very effective and don't seem to make much difference. Enemies are incredibly stupid. I was able to kill a corvette simply by hiding behind and asteroid and strafing back and forth to pop out from behind it and shoot.

You have to spend an absurd amount of time in the game to even advance a little bit and once you unlock the new ships you think, "Oh, this might be really useful" until you realize that all the ships are gimped in some way, like the gunship not having shields. Really?

If they would have made this more of an open-world free to explore while you try to make your way, it would have been better, but it pushes you and rushes you toward the ending which constantly leaves you feeling anxious. I play games to relax, not to feel pushed.

Well, I tried to run the game, but it tried to tell me I was cheating and wouldn't let me start the game. How can I be cheating, I never even got to play it? Then it stopped accusing me of cheating and just said "access denied". So apparently, even though I paid for the game, installed it on my system, I don't have permission to play it. Useless waste of money.

Update. After investigation, it turns out that the Anti-Cheat system for this game flags lighting software (like you use to manage your desktop's LEDs) as cheating software. The Anti-Cheat company has been contacted about it and they refuse to whitelist the software. This is something that should have easily been picked up on in development and addressed. Regardless of what I think about the actual game now, this experience has completely turned me off to the game. It's still a thumbs down.

Early Access Review
I bought this as eAccess a long time ago and I've put hundreds of hours into this game. There's not much to do at the moment, but I find ways of creating my own excitement. Learning the systems is important and you need to understand how they function or you won't be able to properly fly this thing. Once I learned the systems very well, I'd go out and say, "hmm.. wonder how bad it would screw things up if I just ejected my core in the middle of a burn." I've managed to find bugs and get them reported through extreme testing of the ship's systems. This game is going to be great for people who love detail and having to know the backend of the systems. While it can seem complicated at first, with several tutorial run-throughs and lots of repetition and messing with the systems you can figure out exactly how they work and it seems easy then. I'm really looking forward to seeing where this goes and I'm blown away by the developer's dedication and incredible work ethic. I'm also very impressed with the dev communication with the community on the forums. This is going to be a great game!

Started a new game in a kindgom I planned on attacking later. Went to the King and collected taxes for him. Kept the taxes for myself and bought some swag and a small army. Later, I threw him in one of my dungeons.

10/10 Would collect taxes again.

I've turned wrenches on all sorts of things, from lawnmowers to helicopter gunships. While this game isn't a "perfect" simulator by any means, it's actually pretty fun and semi-realistic. There could be a lot more to it, but for what it is, it's actually a great time-waster or way to just kinda sit back and relax. If you have experience with working on vehicles, you won't find this in the least challenging, but then, it's not really about challenging, is it?

It's fun, as long as you're not expecting a real brain-twister. As for people who don't have much (or any) experience in working on cars, this is actually a really good way to learn about how things are attached to each other and roughly how they work. There's a ton of detail being left out, but it's really all about the major parts and being able to customize stuff / repair stuff.

The most fun part of the game for me was when I got up to the point that I had enough money to turn my repair shop into a restore shop. I don't take repair orders anymore. I go to the auction, find a car to refurb, completely restore it, and sell it for a heafty profit. It's a great non-frustrating game to tinker around with.

I really didn't like this at all. As you can tell, I didn't get very far in. I'm pretty tolerant when it comes to games and I like to give them the benefit of the doubt, but this was just incredibly frustrating. First, the way the game tries to teach you about the spell system is not good at all. It rushed through and doesn't explain things very well. Also, there is no "press space" to advance through... it's like an embedded video that lasts a few seconds and then goes away leaving you confused. It also explains and tries to demonstrate spell abilities before you even get them, which is even more confusing. Lastly, I was cruising along nuking things just fine, so I was OK with how disjointed and confusing everything was. I figured I would learn in good time.

Until I got to a room in which there was my first mini boss and I got repeatedly owned in a matter of seconds. The field of view was terrible, and the mini boss 1-shot me. I usually don't give up easy, but the combination of all the above made the game far more frustrating than enjoyable, and I play games to relax and have fun, not be frustrated. Uninstalled. Wish I could get a refund. Do not recommend.

Pros - Exactly what we would want from a game like this. You get to try to survive, run around and gather resources, build up your fortifications and customize your base. You can gather survivors together to provide strength in numbers. You can micromanage their inventory and skills (by playing AS that character). You can develop relationships with neighbors and trade supplies. You can collect a car or vehicle you like and with the right stuff it can be repaired overnight if you have a workshop (maybe the car took a bit of damage). Oh, also, if someone is being a pain in your camp, you can try to get them kicked out.

Also, supplies aren't completely finite. If you have pretty much soaked up everything you can in the area, you can use the radio to ask for the location of some supplies you're looking for. The average zombie solo, or maybe two, can be a lot of fun - or if there is a slow stream of them coming toward you. But there is always that edge of fear because you can get quickly overwhelmed if you're not careful and there are some zombies out there that pose a serious threat to you, and you don't want to just bump into them on accident without being careful. You might not survive it.

cons - For someone new to this game, it can really feel like it is pushing you too hard. It can feel like you can never be fully caught up because someone is always needing to be rescued, escorted, or helped, or you need a certain supply, or a construction project at home needs special materials you need to look for... But trust me, 90% of this stuff you can ignore, and go on about doing your own thing without *horrible* consequences. Only certain things, like a runner being in trouble, are things you want to get to quickly. Once you learn to basically ignore your radio for the most part, you'll feel much more relaxed and able to focus on what you want to focus on.

The game is really well balanced, but expect that you will get jacked at least a couple of times. I suggest playing through the campaign first, before doing a sandbox, because it will help you learn about the environment. Once you know the threats, you can react properly.

Overall, I give it a 9/10 because it is mostly bug free - no game breaking ones that I've seen, and most of them are just normal stuff like AI pathing or a zombie falling down under the terrain and they are fairly rare. Love this game!

I actually had to uninstall it because it was too addictive. Even for me being a binge gamer.
