Intro:
TLDR: - Gameplay: Deviously good - Visuals: Artistic - Story: Dark and immersive - Playtime: Fairly short - 9/10

A puzzle platformer with a tension-creating atmosphere. Creepy settings in multiple enviroments. It has all the requirements to be a fantastic horror-game, yet there is more to it than that. This gruesome game is a must play for those who likes emergins themselves into another world.

LIMBO is one of those indie games which, to some, are a piece of art. I most certainly agree. I morbidly enojyed every minute of it.

Pros and Cons
++ Pros:
+ Atmosphere
+ Clever, Tricy, yet simple puzzles
+ Learning curve
+ Hidden Treasures and Replay value
+ Full controller support

- - Cons:
- Short

Details
The atmosphere of this game is amazing! ... You do indeed feel that something is lurking in the dark. LIMBO only uses two colours (and shades between them) and yet it creates an even more creepier feel to it than the common indie "horror"-games do. You don't know where you are, you don't know who you are. You only know you must find a way to continue.

To add to the beautifully executed creepiness of the visuals, a rather amazing sound-score is also a part of the game. It helps you emerge into the LIMBO. I can't really tell why, but the sounds are you so morbidly appealing. the spook-factor definetely goes up do to the sounds.

The puzzles and the platforming of the game may be simple once you figure out what to do. However figuring out exactly what to do, and what to move, and what to begin with is the tricky part. Simple in design, yet an interactive experience. You need to be observant to complete some parts, and others you need to watch out! Buh!

As you progress through the chapters, you will die... And as you die, you'll begin to learn what to look out for, and the learning curve behind this is actually pretty well composed. The atmosphere of the game and the puzzles blend in so cleverly well, that you sometimes stop to just look at it. If you are looking for a challange, you can collect all the the hidden goodies in the game, to make secret level appear somewhere in the chapters. There you can really test your abilities to survive and think creatively. Be aware, you wil die... repeatedly... you need use the thinker as well as the fingers.

The replay value of the game is pretty nice for multiple reasons. For once there are the steam acheivements which you can collect by exploring secret locations. Some are very tricky, so check every possible hidden route. Especially the "DING!" and the "No Point in Dying" achievements can be devilish to acquire, so good luck. Secondly the game in itself is worth replaying purely because it's simply that good.

An top of all this the full controller support is of cause a benefit to the game. Don't be scared users who prefer keyboard; the controls are fine with either choice.

The only "flaw" to this game, is it's length. The length of the game is about two hours. I wouldn't even call this a mistake per se. The games length is actually what gives it such a high level of replay value. Either way, this game shouldn't be rushed, as is far to great an experience for that kind of play.

Final verdict
No colours, no words, no prolog, no epilog. And still... filled with atmosphere.
A well deserved 9/10.

Intro:
TLDR: - Gameplay: Damn good! - Visuals: Fine and well-made - Story: Somewhat meh (but it doen't really matter) - Coop: Amazingly fun and a challange. - 8/10

Having played this to it's completion (exept for the entire collectibles part) I must say I find it to be one of the best games of it genre. The games is a must-have for playing with your best pal, if you are into puzzles and combat.

Got this game browsing through the steam store looking for a fun coop game to play with my fellow puzzle ethusiast of a friend, thinking it would do fine... And fine it did!

Pros and Cons
++ Pros:
+ Fun and challaging game.
+ Co-op benefits
+ Responsive Controls
+ Full controller support
+ Local Co-op #CouchGamingApproved
+ Good combat system
+ Broad custimazation

- - Cons:
- Single player falls short on brain-puzzles
- Movement is somewhat restricted on keyboard
- lack of better story (this is however not an actual issue)

Details
First of all, this is MEANT to be played in co-op. It is definitely one of the best coop games out there, and I have enjoyed every minute of it with a very good friend of mine, as well as playing it alone. Many of the levels are designed for coop, but has a sort of hot-fix for singleplayer solving etc... Much coop, very fun, such laughter. wow.

The game features puzzles which will test both your brain and timing. In the singleplayer part of the game, many of the puzzle seems to fade into becomming mostly timingskills rather than actual puzzles. Quite easy to figure out, somewhat difficult to execute. In the coop part however, the puzzles require teamwork, timing, space for experimentation and time to think (although timing and executions are still present).

The game is fairly short in single-player, unless you try to accuire every collectible in one run. This is also the case in co-op. My advice; play the coop and take your time to explore and have fun. No need for rushing (unless a challange requires you to do so).

Full controller support is always a plus. Having tested both mouse/keyboard and controller, i find that they are equally pleasing. A matter of preference really. Also the game allows for local-coop with either keyboard or gamepad(s) which is awesome!

The overall movement mechanics really has a flow to it, you feel in control when you dash around the map, aiming your gun og moving at the same time. Movement on the keyboard however may at times be a bit annoying as you can only move in vertical, horizontal and diagonal with the WASD, this is however nothing that you will not get used to.

the combat system is very easy to get used to, and is actaully pretty straight forward. (point => shoot => kill) it does however feature a lot of custimization later on, which I am not going to spoil. All I can say is, mutiple options are great! it's easy to learn and utilize, especially with mouse/keyboard, which may give the user more aiming freedom (yet again, a matter of preference).

Visuals are pleasing, and the astosphere is great. The theme of the game is present throughout the game, which is nice. The only thing the games actually lacks, is a better storyline. It's pretty straight-forward; Lara must help the good guy defeat the bad guy, solving puzzles and defeating minions. BUT! the story is not the main focus of the game, the gameplay, the levels, the coop is indeed the driving force!

Final verdict
My friend and I had a blast playing it, can't recommend it enough for some couch-gaming!
8/10.

Intro:
TLDR: Gameplay: Outstanding! - Visuals: Stunningly beautiful artstyle - Story: Fitting - Coop: Double the fun, though making the game easier at some points. - 9/10

Amazing 2D sidescroller with a very broad combat system! Boss-battles, mini-bosses, loads of different enemies, platforming, jump-puzzles with various difficulties, and a great storyline. A Masterpeice! If you like a challanging platformer/combat-sidescroller; this is it for you.

Originally got this game through a HumbleBundle and wasen't expecting much from it. Boy was I in for a surprise!

Pros and Cons:
++ Pros:
+ Local coop
+ Responsive controls
+ Full controller support
+ Combat with a lot of variations
+ Customizations
+ Fun and fine story
+ Side-material (and loads of it)
+ Immersive world
+ Artstyle

- - Cons:
- Fairly short actual story
- Coop restricted to local

Details:
The games features a coop mode, but this is however only on a local pc. The coop mode is essentialy adding another character to the game with next to none extra interactions. This is however a neat feature for the game, and is very fun. doubles the people, double the fun, right!? right indeed.

The combat and movement system is extremely good, you control every action, and your charactor is a super responsive slave to your controller of choice. It features full controller support, which I personally find great for this kind of game. Great use of combo variation and at some points it is even a necesity to win a duel or complete a challange.

Wether you jump your way thorugh spikes, traps and platforms, or (Guaca)melee your way through hazzards of enemies, It's allways a very good mixtures of the two main gameplay mechanics. The game has a lot of mechnics, which are all very well explained, and it forces you to utilizes almost everyone of them. You can't just stomp thorugh the game using one move, or one combat technique. Variation is key to defeat certain enemies.

One word *Sidematerial*!!! Side-quests (so to speak), challange modes, collectiables, unlockables. Guacamelee has pretty much all of it. It also featues a some custimization to suit your playstyle as well. Some of the challanges may be difficult and frustratin! I must admit I at one point spent 1½ hours completing a single jump-puzzle... I suck... damn my stubborness. And yet other parts may be a peice of cake.

The overall game is an eye-pleaser. The artline is amazing, especially considering it being a "just" a 2D sidescroller. You can really feel the mood of the game, being pumped up with references to other games, memes and various sidestories. It's all in the detail of the tiny thing. And there is a lot of tiny things in this game. Makes for an overall better experience. It is very rewarding to go around exploring the world of guacamelee, trust me on this one!

The story is pretty straight-forward, humorous, filled with some unique characters. This is however not the bearing factor, as it falls a bit short compared to the standard of the other parts of the game. Only problem is that you can rush through the main storyline in a matter of a few hours, which leaves you storywise a bit dissatisfied. The loads of extra content largely outweights this problem though.

Final verdict:
One of the best sidescrolles i've ever played. Rewarding to play.
"Me Gusta". I rate this game 9/10.
