I hate this puzzle

I don't wanna play this game again

LIMBO is a fantastic puzzle platformer(with slightly disappointing 2nd half), that weirdly reminds me a bit of early internet trolling/hard games, but in a good way

What i mean is that, the gameplay is designed around danger lurking everywhere, one misstep, one wrong move, one blink, and you're dead. But what LIMBO does differently, is taking said gameplay and making it way more fair. Cheap deaths rarely if ever happen, almost all of them are either telegraphed, obvious or just required you to pay attention to your surroundings, or to solve physics puzzle. It also has "gory deaths" aspect of those old flash games, but due to the artstyle, they arent always noticeable, and feel less like cheap shock horror, and more like interesting art direction

But LIMBO isn't just a nostalgic reminder of the old internet games, it does have a very creative, hard to describe puzzle types: 1) Physics based, where you have to figure out what to do 2) platforming, which sometimes asks you to be VERY precise. First type feels very rewarding, in same way Portal series feels satisfying to solve, and you never feel like solutions are dumb or hard to figure out, and the second type is satisfying in same way something like Super Meat Boy is but obviously way way easier n less common then insuper meat boy.

There's also subtype of the second one, which I'd call chases, its especially prominent in the first half of the game, where you basically chased by something, and have to figure what to do fast. Encounters with that spider alone make this such a memorable experience. The way he relentlessly chases you, the way you fight back against him(and other living enemies), its all so, LIMBO, and I dont think I ever encountered anything like it.

Then the second half of the game happens, its not bad by any means, its still mostly good, but it just feels way less unique, more formulaic. The puzzles are still all physics based, but they have a lot of repeats, like "the section where you press/pull something n you have to leave area fast before dying" or "press/pull this thing a few times", Platforming is mostly same, but now there's less urgent moments, less chases, Speaking of chases, while we do have some sort of chases in 2nd half of the game, you arent running from monsters anymore, just from some sawblades etc. Which sucks, because, imho it ruins the atmosphere. Forest area in the beginning is insanely memorable not just because of fantastic art direction, or sound design but also because the gameplay makes it feel like a proper hostile forest. You genuinely feel alone, lost, even almost afraid while exploring it, but inside the factory onward, its just kinda... there... I hoped that at any moment spider may come back(unlikely but maybe he had a family), or a new threat will come to terrorise us, but it never happened. It felt like 2nd half of the game was made by different devs.

Even storytelling, which wasnt too prominent in the forest area, gets even less relevant in 2nd half. Forest at least had this mystery of when you find first living people, it makes your mind think "who are they, why are they here, why are they hostile to me?", its a strong hook, that made me want to know more... 2nd half of the game drops any apperances of them, you just see your sister twice, get no explanation of anything n thats it.

Despite my criticism at the end, I still HIGHLY recommend this game to basically anyone who hasnt played it yet, even if you hate puzzle genre on principle, LIMBO is different enough that you might still enjoy it(plus its hardest achievement is fun to hunt). I just, really wish second half of the game was as exciting, and memorable as the forest which I'll never forget.
