The devs are more interested in selling you reskinned animals for $3 a pop than fixing the glaring issues with the actual game. This is just the straw that broke it.

The cars don't adhere properly to physics, the cost-worth of investing in certain ventures still feels inadequate at best, the controls are janky and they still haven't fixed cases where animals (especially pets) will just starve to death no matter how much food they have access to.

Buy at your own risk. The devs have proven over the last two years that they could not care less about player opinions. Wish I could return it.

Why does it take ~45 minutes to write 2 GB to my SSD on an idle PC?
The only upside this version has is it's *actually* ~180 GB, unlike Evolved that claims similar but is actually in excess of 400 GB. No, not including mods.

It takes about 30 minutes to finish the demo, even when stumbling about.

The movement suffers from a similar effect to The Forest. The kind of bulky that you aren't confident in trying to make jumps in. Related to that, the mouse sensitivity doesn't go high enough for me. I don't have a lot of room on my desk for mouse space, so I instead use higher sensitivity. For reference, I comfortably play Minecraft on Hyperspeed.

The horse selling would be better moved to a market GUI rather than a physical stall. There's 8 NPCs trying to buy my 3 foals and it's weird. Guys, this filly was born yesterday. She won't be a five star race horse for a long while! Go away!

It doesn't make sense to pay money to build structures that (supposedly) I'm building from scratch with my own materials. Buying the blueprint, sure, but not building it.

There doesn't (currently) seem to be any benefit to putting foals in their own stable. If anything, it's a detriment because you have to spend more time filling every individual food and water buckets instead of feeding/watering them all at once in the temporary pen.

It's hard to comment on anything else since this is only a demo and only has ~3 days of quests. I would've liked to see a bit more to chew on, but it's a pretty quick pace and doesn't really leave me feeling better about what the final product might be. Don't get me wrong, I would love to see a finished product, but the demo didn't change my mind one way or the other about it. A demo should make players want the game more, but it didn't really do that for me.

A rare gem in the horse game genre. No bs, no micro-transactions, no time limits.
Very straight-forward and relaxing game. <3

*Picked up on sale for $3.

The game isn't that deep, but it's great at being a simple lil' Tavern builder you can mostly switch off your brain for.
You will have to eventually pay attention to your servers' priorities and specialize them a bit.

The only real snag I ran into was at some point I saw the kitchen stations had exclamation marks over them, but no indication as to what it meant. I thought the game was trying to communicate a problem to me. Apparently not. That's how it tells you that you can upgrade a station. Maybe changing the icon to an Up Arrow instead would be better?

Overall, I'm happy with this one. I don't have many games I can just switch off to that aren't "idle" games.

Friend group was clearing out a place when one friend starts lecturing us about watching our backs.
The second that sentence left his mouth, he was bitten from behind.

The building system heavily borrows from The Last Plague: Blight, which is a more realistic and very grindy system.
I can't be bothered with it, so I will not be slogging through that for the rest of the game.

Additionally, the character model on the main menu is rather blurry on a 2k monitor. FPS barely stays above 60 in a menu, never mind in-world, which tells me optimization has not yet been done.

World rule customizing leaves much to be desired. There's no way to turn off thatch, stick, bark, building, etc. decay. There's no way to make building cheaper/less of a hassle. Imo, Medieval Dynasty has better world options.

I cannot speak on the AI because the build system completely turned me off before I could even get that far.
Sadly, I have requested a refund.

I agree with another user that this game feels kinda like the Sims, but you can only directly control one person per generation. Also in 880s England. I love this game. Sure, it's nearly a decade old already, but it's being made by one dude in their spare time. It gets a pass. :)

Pros:

- Graphics are very pretty.
- Dynamic Market that responds to product flooding, and taking advantage of wandering merchants buying stuff for more.
- You can do nearly anything you want. Arson, poisoning, B&E, Teaching, Farming, Fishing, Mining, Land-lording, etc. etc.
- Every item has a purpose, unlike some games that add filler junk items.
- Fair amount of options to customize your difficulty. Change the time flow, turn on/off needs, require nails, etc.
- Building a Trade Post lets you sell stuff at the value the Market would charge you. Caravans are 100% worth to do.
- Dev is super responsive and helpful in discussions even after all this time. (Thank you, again!)
- Diverse range of skills to explore and level up to 100.
- A 4 slot "Enderchest" that is shared across all saves. I tend to leave a spare cloak and backpack in it.

Cons:

- Sometimes the pathing just doesn't want to, and your person can get stuck and give up walking.
- The year counter stops at 1066 due to irl historical reasons. Dev was considering an endless mode at some point tho.
- A lot of job positions take up ~40-60% of your day, and pay less than if you just did freelance gathering or busking. (You cannot control your character during their work hours if they work for someone else.)
- I don't see a point in raids. Apparently you can loot the bodies, but in my XP, they disappear too fast for that.
- Sometimes the initial Markets will spawn with 0-3 tools, clothes and weapons, and those items are often gone befor you can afford them.

Overall, I really love this game. It's scratching a particular itch that nothing else can, and I look forward to more updates. :)

It markets itself as running an Ale brewery the way you want to. The reality is you're at the mercy of what the algorithm wants, and there's really very little freedom in what you make. On top of that, it's a constant paycheck-to-paycheck living. This is not fun for me, it's a micromanaging nightmare of a chore. :(

Best DLC of the bunch. If you only pick one DLC for Rimworld, pick this one.
Adds kids, new species, new tech, just a boatload of content that makes the game feel empty without it.
The others don't add near as much.
