If you value looking at your mouse and not resenting it for existing then I'd avoid this one.

Really fun and addictive game. Definitely improves the original in every way. Animations are a lot more varied and fluid as advertised and the music is pretty fun to listen to as you're punching stick baddies in their kung-faces. It's all a lot more pleasing an experience and super fun gameplay-wise, especially when it starts getting really hectic, enemies are coming from every direction, projectiles be flying, and the death ball is being flung around like two ton tether ball of endless torment, and you're still managing to keep up with it all somehow while looking like a super neato fighty guy.

The various special effects and dramatic slow-motion moments are the only annoying bits as they can totally screw you up due to the randomness of when they occur and how they can really mess with your rhythm and timing, and considering those are arguably the most crucial elements of this game, that can be more than a little bothersome. It all still looks and feels cool so I'd say it balances out pretty well.

The story rivals that of the original Half-life and the gameplay utilizes everything the engine itself can do. Gearbox really outdid themselves with this first entry in the list of Half-Life add-ons.
