It crashed more times than enemies I killed.
Run worse than Cyberpunk with Path Tracing.
The endings are pretty bad and nothing makes sense.

But, did I enjoy it? Yes I did.

Seriously, Konami. This bad of a PC port is a crime.

Honestly, this just ain't it. At no point of the game did I enjoy playing it.

Hollow Knight 1 was a masterpiece through and through.
Silksong feels like a chore to play and a downgrade. Waited so many years for nothing.

It's not about difficulty. For me It was incredibly easy. Bought day 1 - pre boss nerfs. Forced myself to play the default crest just to make the game harder and still beat all bosses 1st-2nd try. Rarely 5th. Had almost finished all of ACT 2 without upgrading the needle (forgot). I even one-shotted the act 3 lava escape sequence by accident first try. Difficulty is always welcome. It's everything else that bothers me.

--------

Positives

Amazing level design
Some of the best and smartest platforming challenges. Very satisfying.
Some bosses are a work of art in their combat and design
Really challenging fast paced combat
Tons of customization
Lovable characters
Hornet slaps perverts that try to kiss her

--------

Negatives

The quest system forces wasting an endless amount of time or using guides since the hints are very vague. Like "go somewhere in X area" which means backtracking a ginormous area which also difficult to traverse. Also the quest may need finding a hidden path which means hitting every wall just in case. So you're now stuck wasting 30 minutes backtracking to find the quest only to then get frustrated, search it up and understand the hint was misleading in some way. Every time I didn't google a quest guide, was a time I regretted not doing it.

After every skill you unlock, you need to explore the entire world again. Yes, I know. It's a Metroidvania. But there is no indication an area was fully explored. Having a map in this game is worse than not having one.
Chunks don't get properly separated. You but enter a huge room for a moment, exit, and then the map shows the entire area as if you explored all of it. You end up having to pass through every stage of the map 30+ times. The worst quests are "Kill X enemy 20 times and deliver their item". I killed that enemy 1000 times already when I was still exploring the area. But because I got the quest a bit late by accident, WHY do I need to go back and kill these enemies again? And no you can't ignore quests because the next ones will not appear without completing the previous ones. Can't all enemies drop their materials by default so I can keep them and deliver them later?

And so for the first time in my life I said, screw it. No side quests. I am employed. No way I'm wasting my time on some Ubisoft level chores. But curiosity got the best of me and searched the rewards just in case and got pissed. Key game upgrades like making your weapon stronger which can be done only 4~ times in the entire game are blocked behind time consuming tedious quests. As much as I laughed at IGN for giving a 9/10 due to quests, having now played the game, I am even more pissed at IGN for not giving an even lower rating. Just let me beat a difficult boss or platforming challenge and give me the upgrade. Not force me waste 30-60 minutes on delivery boy duty. I could have played Death Stranding for that with far better sceneries and graphics.

On another note I'd love to blame inputs for being bad and unresponsive but just like Elden Ring, you get used to the junk and clunkiness after 10-20 hours. You do still die from inputs from time to time but I can forgive that as with most games.

Lastly. 30% of the game, Act3 is locked behind the "Castle Inverse" as I call it. Like in Castlevania. I won't tag this as a spoiler, it's a known fact that all metroidvanias copy the OG, Symphony of the Night. But the prerequisites required to unlock essentially half the game are INSANE. A 30 minute youtube guide that requires 2-4 hours in TEDIOUS chores. No normal player would EVER do these by himself in a normal playthrough. Reddit is filled with players asking how. Vids on youtube with guides have 1mil of combined views. Statistically speaking only 1 in 1000 would unlock half the game playing casually.

Everything in this game is a google simulator. To the point, I would add in the game's store page description a disclaimer "Googling or 300 hours of your time required to unlock half the game".

I was between giving a positive review for the lovable and adorable designs of Hornet, Sherma and Bella.
But I honestly cannot. Not a single moment playing this game have I enjoyed my time. As a matter of fact, the game doesn't even respect your time. A shame.

An amazing game. Perfectly polished and really fun to play.

The AI behavior and design is hands down the best there is. Far better than Last Of Us 2 even.

As it is right now, I don't see much content to do. No prestige system. No reset system. Not much progression possible. It's 60 hours of content tops to get all of the best, to do all the quests and try a bit of everything. But it's really fun to play even if maxed out.

The foundation here is really good and updates have potential to make this one of the best games out there. Only time will tell.

Networking 10/10
Optimization 10/10
Graphics 8/10
AI/PvE 10/10
PvP 10/10
Audio 8/10
Scrappy 10/10

The dictionary needs a need word because 'masterpiece' undercuts how good this game is.

Best game I've played in the last 5 years. 10/10.

Hope more Last Stand games like this one are released in the future. One of the best roguelites I've ever played.

Story 9/10
Graphics 8/10
Character designs 5/10
Combat 3/10
Side Quests 2/10
Difficulty 0/10
Equipment customization 1/10
Skill Upgrades 0/10

I barely give a positive review.

Having finished all FF from 7 to 16, this was the hardest one to play.

> No interesting characters or really low screentime of interesting ones.
> The combat gets boring fast. Tedious beyond any imagination. Doing laundry is more fun than fighting in FF16 and I hate doing laundry. All combat difficulty dies around 5 hour mark. You get infinite HP healing. Didn't use a single potion after that. And around that same time you get a ring that gives you a dodge window + time slow which means you can never get hit.
> The skill upgrade and equipment systems set a new low as how to not design games.
> I have to conciously make an effort to force myself to play this game out of my love for the FF series. It saddens me.

Really good game. Fun to play with friends.
I would have hoped for a bigger world with more character levels, a deeper crafting system, more blueprints and better pvp.
The monthly season wipe system makes it hard play more for long but still. There is fun to be made.
8/10.

It's a clunky junky mess of a game that frustrates you more than it doesn't.
However, the epic moments make it all worth it in the end.

1. True RPG experience. From getting raided while camping to climbing enemies while riding them and literally chopping off their head. I don't remember the last time I wanted to play a game and be this excited.
2. Dungeon design is vastly superior to Elden Ring or even any other game for that matter.
3. Combat and exploration animation physics are prime.
4. Quests make you want to punch your monitor. Every single one of them. Drop your ego and watch tutorial videos for them. It's impossible otherwise as half the mechanics are not explained or shown all while having awkward execution. Also pawn quest guides do nothing.
5. You will be severely CPU bottlenecked. On 4K with a 4090 I get the same FPS on either Low or Ultra. After some research online, I found that all the NPCs of the ENTIRE world are alive and doing things at all times. Trust me, it's for good reason.
6. Go for the true ending. Don't search how to do it until the end of the game. No prerequistes required.

8/10. Enjoy!
