Early Access Review
The UK Beer Metric Review

This is an honest review using my own highly scientific UK Beer Metric.

The average price of a pint in the UK is about £5.50.
This game costs £18.39, which works out at roughly 3.34 pints at the pub.

Is it worth 3.34 pints?

Yes.

Cons

- Needs more endgame content, such as larger scale battles and better handicaps.
- Not enough meaningful things to spend money on in the late game.
- Probably needs some form of quest system for structure.
- More enemy variety would be great. Fighting something other than humans, such as large monsters that require taking a sizeable force, would add depth.
- Performance can be rough. I run it on low settings with an RTX 5090 and a 12th gen i9, which suggests optimisation needs work.

Pros

- A genuinely fun little game in its current state.
- The gameplay loop is strong. You can tune out and enjoy it without focusing heavily on story.
- Tournaments are a nice feature.
- Hiring and building up your group feels good.
- The roguelike elements work well.

Conclusion

This is not a finished product.

However, even if development stopped tomorrow and it was abandoned, I would still feel that I got my money’s worth.

On the UK Beer Metric scale, it comfortably earns its 3.34 pints.
