I did not expect this game to be good, but it was the type of game I had to see for myself. Similar to how you can't help but slow down and check out a car crash on the side of the road, I just couldn't help myself but see first hand how terrible this game turned out.

I had zero expectations and it was worse than that.

I'm not even sure I have the strength to bring myself to finish it.

The combat is basically totally braindead, and completely on-rails. The characters and animation look like something out of a 2006 Creepy Pasta 4Chan post. The story is nonsensical, at best, and nonexistent at worst.

Everything about this game was a mistake, from the inception to the release.

This game is the worst thing to ever happen to video gaming since Pong. I'd take 10,000 years of Electronic Arts being the only AAA studio over having to play through this game start to finish one single time.

The first few hours of the game really made me regret getting this game. The combat was clunky, the game felt slow, and the mechanics felt inconsistent.

However, as soon as I unlocked the first Titan ability from the first major Story Boss, the combat started to finally come together. I'm glad I toughed it out, because this game is actually extremely fun, with a compelling story, and really solid level design.

While there aren't that many enemies fundamentally, what they do with the archtypes they have makes the enemies feel really varied, with a strong variety. It's hard to explain, but essentially, imagine fighting what looks like the same enemy 3 times, but they all have one new move compared to the others.

The first few hours are tough, but the game is truly impressive. Considering it's constantly on sale for dirt cheap, there's no reason not to pick this one up for as little as 5 dollars.

Game has really bad FPS stuttering problems. Game is unplayable in its current state. Wait for an update to fix this, if it ever comes.

Not a bad little incremental game, though it's perfectly possible to beat this game in one go without interacting with the Prestige system at all, albeit it'll be slower.

The balance of the last few scratcher cards are also very off when you consider the general payout-vs-cost compared to other cards. In all honesty, the best way to grind the last leg of cash you'll need to win is to get the Prestige upgrade for buying specific booster packs and the upgrade for the Ore pack, and just spam that pack for $4 Billion until you reach the end.

Not bad for 2 and a half dollars.

This is one of the greatest games ever made. It redefines what it means to be a "turn based RPG." The character building is the most robust I've ever seen, and the soundtrack is untouchable, and unforgettable. A story of joy and sorrow, Clair Obscure lives up to its namesake.

For those who come after.

TL;DR -Overall, I really like what AI Limit is, especially as a title offered way below the $70 usual price, and you should try it for yourself, but I do feel a little frustrated now and then because the gameplay can feel clunky. It also has a pause function!

I "recommend" this game with some hesitation because there are some caveats. AI Limit is an interesting, compelling "Souls-Lite" with a world I'm interested in learning more about, and the gameplay is decent.

It's important to really understand that. The gameplay is DECENT not great. There are some quirks with the mechanics that make it feel clunky. Some animations you lock-into Monster Hunter style, there are some you can cancel out of, but only sometimes, and while I'm sure there's consistency to it, in real-time, a lot of animation canceling (or lack thereof) feels random, making it difficult to figure out if it's all intentional, or not. It leads to gaemplay that feels inconsistent and clunky, despite being built on a very solid foundation.

I call AI Limit a "Souls-Lite" because of several stand-out features that I think many people may be interested in. Firstly, you don't loose all of your currency when you die, only a portion of it, but the trade-off is that what you do lose cannot be recovered. Secondly, there's no Stamina bar, leading the game to feel like more of an ARPG that perhaps flows a little better than Souls games where you need to manage a Stamina Bar. Perhaps most importantly, you can in fact pause the game by accessing the in-game menu.

The level design is really interesting, though I can see some people getting overwhelmed and lost easily at times.

Overall, pretty good.

This is not a $70 dollar game. Wait for a Steam Sale when it's been discounted to $20 or $30. While the game is generally fun, it doesn't have a lot of depth to the combat and it's pretty buggy.

Probably the best RPG we'll see for 100 years.

I don't really know if the developers of this game really are that invested in the balance of this game. At time of writing, I only have 8 hours roughly in game time, but you don't really need more than that to realize how inconsistent this game truly is. A lot of people bring up the RNG of the game and rightly so.

The problem isn't that it's a "deck building" game so much as there's a LOT of Perks and Items that are just dead weight. It's almost impossible to have any coherent "build" outside of getting lucky.

That in and of itself is also not inherently a negative. However, with the way the game is balanced, most "average" builds just will not win you a run. In fact, in many cases a more "optimized" build where you do get decent synergy will also not be enough to win you a run.

This game does not test your ability to formulate a plan. It does not test your ability to adapt and make the best of a bad situation. This game does not test your strategic depth.

This game simply tests how many runs you are willing to attempt before you give up all together.

Great single-player farming sim game. Really scratches the itch of building up and clearing out the rooftops.
