This game has had its ups and downs, as most multiplayer game naturally do. It is at the mercy of the devs, and sometimes they make good decisions, sometimes bad one. Overall Dota 2 is a good experience. You will have great moments, and terrible ones with this game.

It's built on a strong foundation, being the origin of the MOBA genre. The devs do a good job to keep the game interesting. But at the same time, the devs are relentless with gameplay updates and changes, a never-ending stream of patches. If you take a break from this game and come back, it can sometimes be unrecognizable. The map geography changes, hero abilities change, items change, mechanics change, not to mention the hundreds of little tweaks to stats CONSTANTLY. You can be a master at this game, and if you take a break, you will have to relearn the new meta and hero changes, and it can be jarring to see heros you love reworked into something else. The infamous 7.00 patch pissed a lot of people off at first, but by now we're all used to it.

There is so much content out there meant to teach you how to play the game, but 90% of it is currently useless because NOTHING in those old videos or guides applies. Within weeks there can be massive meta changes in this game.

Now that my rant is over, all in all, it's still a great, memorable game, with charming/unique heros, and a satisfying and addicting gameplay loop.

It's pretty ♥♥♥♥♥ tho let's be honest.
