Me and this game have an established relationship where I give it about 30 hours of my lifespan and it gives me back one super awesome run where I'm ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ stomping The Lamb in 10 seconds flat before sending me back to the 20 run loss streak dungeons with Rotten Meat and the 50th Magic 8 Ball in a row

You'll might come to this game because you heard that it has 'PS2 Graphics'

You'll might come to this game because you heard that its reminiscent of the best qualities of games like DMC or Bayonetta

You'll might come to this game because you saw a few circulating clips on Twitter.

You'll might even come to this game because you heard the news regarding Tango Gameworks.

What I'm trying to say is that I think it says something about a product when you'll hear the world of it before you even know its existence as a whole, and while sometimes this means its because of a certain quality that gives it that mainstream saturation, this game is every word of praise you'll hear about it.

Even if you somehow don't like the music or the combat system or the character designs (etc. etc.), you can just FEEL the passion and authenticity practically oozing from its pores. The learning curve is a bit steep, and its challenges are even steeper. But its never a demand, its always an offer. And the accessibility options, as well as the newly added updates and controller support, is definite proof of that.

I'd say I don't wanna come off as a fanatic, but the 113.5 hours I put into this game isn't doing me any favors. Being high and 100%ing this game had to be one of the most positive gaming experiences I've had in AWHILE, so much so I've actually bothered with the Steam Trading Cards system just to get the shiny max level badge (although I'm working on getting the foil badge as we speak)

All and all, that's what this game is. An experience. And everyone's experience is going to be different. But I think if you went into Hi-Fi Rush with the intents and purposes of just basking in the wake its left on the gaming community and having a good time with an honest-to-god video game, I can GUARANTEE that the outcome will be half as positive as mine AT LEAST.

Is it coherent? It has its fair share of unclear directions and odd glitches here n' there

Is it particularly eye-catching? Depends on what you're looking for when you think of a horror game

Well you still have a good time regardless? ...Yeah, I'd think so!

I won't deny this game is an acquired taste, but I think if you've got 20 bucks to spend (or the patience to wait for a big time sale) you wouldn't be wrong to give it its fair near 2 hour trial before deciding if you want a refund or not. The story is as simplistic as a good bit of indie horror tends to be so you don't have to worry too much about any attempts at deep lore or in-depthful theme n' narrative (shocker, right?).

The humor is a touch of crass and gross, which in my opinion fits well with not only the aesthetics, but also the grungy and dark 3D pixel setting that does it damnedest to keep you on edge. Sure, it may seem like they're just throwing anything at you at times, but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't tweaking from walking back home at the end of every shift.

But the gameplay itself is what really drew me to this game because despite how tight the controls feel, the gameplay loop is lowkey superb. Especially if you're into Restaurant Management games because you used to watch your mom obsessively play cafe world on facebook for several years as a kid.

So that being said, if you're looking at this game because of curiosity alone, you'd probably be good with just a walk-through. But if you're into the ol' dining sim grind or just enjoy indie horror to the point of exploration, this is a good buy. I had fun playing it through!

As i'm writing this, the game is currently on sale, so I just wanted to pop in and say that if you're thinking of getting this game??? Do it.

I'm not really INTO Platformers like a majority of my friends are, even 3D ones. They just never have that specific weight or mechanics to them that'd keep me hooked enough to play for a long time. Not to mention I'm incredibly picky on my videogames nowadays as I'm trying to avoid the olden ways of picking up a game and just never playing it for a century.

Psychonauts 1 honestly bulldozed these preferences so hard, the minute I finished it, I just had to get the second entry. And trust me when I say that Psychonauts 2 is an utter overhaul of the three S's: Style, Story, and Substance. I can't promise you'll like EVERYTHING about it, as I've come across those who still find the collectible system to be straining and some characters not having their moments in the spotlight,

But I think if you're looking for an intro into the 3D platformer genre and don't want to go old school from the get go, you won't go wrong by choosing the Psychonauts series! Don't worry too much about the 60 dollar price either, as this game goes on sale quite a lot. Course, you'll have to wait for that sale, but hey! All the more reason to play Psychonauts 1 so you can prep for the experience!

9/10 pretty great game!

Its a pretty short and straight forward game, but I think after ingesting a multitudes of 40+ hour games where you have to run three marathons in a half just to get to the quarter point of its completion, its a nice change of pace! The optional quests never really feel too menial and don't you dare think the concepts for the island stops at Charles himself, because there's tons of other facets of danger that keeps you on your toes and stops you from being to lulled by the fact Charles can't reach you in certain areas.

Is the voice-acting kinda rough sometimes when it comes to some leaning too much into their inflections? Yeah. Do some of the models have some sort of quirk to them? Yeah. But even aside from the fact that this was made by one person, lets be honest, we didn't necessarily come to this game expecting to really fall in love with every character we come across...well, maybe the pickle lady, but otherwise, not really too bothered by the mouths not moving. And while I think the price is fair because of how it handles it graphics and how solid its mechanics are, I will acknowledge it can be pretty steep in other countries.

Its just an overall pretty good game where the danger never feels to in your face or hammed up, and I don't really believe this game to be the 'baby's horror game cash cow' people love to throw at indies they only understand on a surface level. I guess my one complaint is that the stealth is pretty unpolished. Sometimes it feels weightless where you can just run past things, grab what you need, and run out. Other times its pretty frustrating because there's not really a mechanic to get out of range or it feels like you're making too much noise when you're just walking.

But otherwise? Yeah, I'd recommend!

Inscryption, just like its role in the story, seems like your normal game stepping out of the comfort zone in a card game format. However, this game not only steps out of the comfort zone, but all zones in general, and creates the most unique experience I've ever had as someone who religiously plays turn-based card games.

Every time you've think you've expected what there is to expect out of this game, it pulls the rug out from under your legs and sends you back to thinking on your feet again. Its not only immersive, but its story has that interesting ARG hook to pull you in while its setting and puzzle-solving portions are a breath of fresh air after you've spent a good 4 hour chunk fighting for your life against bee hives and shark flip cards.

If you want not only a grounded card game with good mechanics, but a good time and genuinely cool experience, this game is right for you.

I didn't even do my first clear yet (mostly because I get owned by those rats in the Temple Of Styx before I die by Hades' hands), yet I can tell you this is a good game. You already hear some phenomenal praise about the music and voices, but I can't stress enough that the gameplay is hella addicting. I've never been the same ever since I unlocked the twin fists.
