A, literal, BALL of a time.

BALL x PIT gives you that feeling of playing an arcade game with the added mix of roguelike experience - all in the comfort of your home. You gain resources after each playthrough and make meaningful advancements with said resources. Its progression is well-paced, leaving you to end up playing for hours on end.

It took me the better part of 2 weeks to clear the game in 45hours and I highly recommend it.

Touhou Monster TD is a casual TD game.

The main premise of this game is a (very short) story about the Touhou characters and set in the realm of Gensokyo. The TD itself is a very forgiving one as there are elements of the game that allow you amend mistakes such as the ability to reposition your towers (or in this case, they're more accurately a unit posing as a tower based off the many characters that exist from ZUN's original Touhou).

In this game, your builder is also doubled as a hero that is playable allowing them to deal damage. If you are fond of old games like the WC3 TD custom maps, then this is of the same concept. You are able to also use items to unlock chests/cages in certain maps allowing you to gain additional benefits (the rewards from them are static).

The game allows you to spend the stars you get from completing maps into a permanent skill upgrade which can be respec for free at any time - by the end of the game at 95/100 stars you will be able to max out all the branches.

The art style is probably the biggest attraction for myself personally, and has kept me playing the game some more despite the state of the game at launch.

Few things to note;
> Not everything is translated, but enough is translated that you understand how to play the game - a lot of the translation is rough
> Broken UI/boundaries for details about the towers and their flavour text
> Aiming can be finicky (especially when you have multiple towers huddled AND and item under them. You may upgrade the wrong tower.)
> Towers do not have the ability to prioritise one unit over the other, and is always for the first mob
> Steam achievements as of the time of this review is bugged, so there was no way for me to 100% the game
> Difficulty of Easy/Normal/Hard is not really difficult, for seasoned TD players Lunatic is the only mode is most likely the only mode that'll give you some resistance

If you are a Touhou fan and enjoy playing TD, you would most likely enjoy this game for around 15h - however I do not recommend on purchasing it for full price for what it offers currently.

EDIT: currently the achievements are bugged in the English language version, if you are a completionist and wish to get all the achievement go into the properties of the game and change the language to Simple Chinese, then continue to complete the achievements.

EDIT2 (2 Nov 2021): Your existing save file can be used to replay the stage you need for the corresponding achievements. My final 2 achievements required me to complete it on the 2 challenge modes for all the stages but once I had 100/100 stars it didn't give it - I simply replayed the very first stage for both challenges in the Chinese client and it gave the last two I needed.

Early Access Review
Gunfire Reborn is a crossover between 3 genres (FPS, roguelite & RPG) that you can choose to either play alone or with up to 3 others in online co-op.

The replay value of the game has only increased over the time that I have owned the game, and it continues to be one of the most fun FPS/co-op that I may invite my friends to play with over the weekend.

The game starts the characters with a base skill and ultimate, and these skills are further enhanced by picking up a crown which drops upon clearing a floor and sometimes elite bosses - it will then prompt you to pick one of three options which results in a permanent upgrade for that particular run. The pathways you roll are in the hands of RNG, so you'll have to adjust your playstyle if you don't get the necessary upgrades you had envisioned.

In a similar fashion, the game will drop an item called an 'occult scroll' which can be thought of as the equivalent of equipments or artifacts. These are randomly generated as well, but worry not as playing in a multiplayer setting allows you to share your scrolls with one another either by pinging the scroll or manually dropping it from your inventory (besides the specific ones that mentions you can not drop). Once you unlock these scrolls, they will be in the pool of scrolls which may drop during any runs in the future. A slight hint regarding scrolls, just because you can pick up a scroll, doesn't mean you should.

The difficulties are scalable granted you have had enough souls invested in the talents which is the permanent upgrades aspect of the game after some runs. The latest difficulty added (reincarnation) was designed so that you could spend the excess soul you have, and progressively fight stronger enemies.

However, despite all of the above the game does have its run-ins with bugs, so it's far from a perfect game. The great news is that the developers do listen to the community and make changes/fixes accordingly in the not-so-distant future which are generally received in a positive light.

For a game that doesn't put a dent in your wallet (currently priced at $11.99 USD on steam EA), I would recommend this to anyone willing to shoot some things down - and bring along a friend or 3 while you're at it!

Bad North is a casual strategy game with mechanics that are not too complex to learn.

You control up to 4 groups of vikings when deploying on each island, with a commander who determines what kind type of troops and how strong the group is. All the commanders start out as the default unit and they can be upgraded to three different units so far - shield, pike and bow units. In addition to this each commander is able to equip one piece of item to further enhance the performance. You pick up several different commanders along the way, and so you are able to have deploy several groups per turn.

Bad North is an enjoyable casual strategy game which can be thoroughly enjoyed by those who are looking for a strategy game to play with not a lot of spare time to sink into one session as most of the islands will take less than 5 minutes to complete. On top of this, it is a calming enough game even though the game in itself is about fending off invaders off your islands.

Overall, Bad North is a casual game which can be thoroughly enjoyed if all you seek is a light level of strategy involved along with some enjoyable graphics and soundtrack which is calming for the most part.

Tooth and Tail entails unique yet simple mechanics that allows both casual and experienced players to be able to play the game in a simple manner whilst maintaining it's core elements as a real-time-strategy game. The arrangement of elements has been put in such a way that even the most novice or new to RTS person is able to quickly learn and adapt to what is required to play the game. It holds other classic elements such as micro, albeit not as much or vital as is in other RTS.

Overall, the game is incredibly fun to play, more than I thought I'd enjoy it. The settings and plot in which the game is built around is also an enjoyable experience to be had.

To describe this game in one word - Beautiful.

Ori is one of those games that would immediately sink you into its world. The amount of beautiful features this game has will leave you enthralled and enchanted. A seamless blend between graphics, music and plot work together to present you a game that you won't regret buying and playing.

It should be noted that this game can be played for relaxation. However the game becomes more ruthless the further you progress in the plot, finding yourself respawning from your last checkpoint more often with each new stage - all which will make acquiring the harder Achievement even more challenging.

Edit: It should be noted I played this game w/ keyboard up until 40% playthrough and the rest on conrtoller. The use of a controller makes ease of the game as in the later portions of the game things can be a little cramped and not having the option to adjust keybinding might frustrate some people.

An extremely well done piece of work that took 3.5 years for the developer to perfect. Graphics, gameplay, plot. It has it all.
