Farewell humanity. I've gone past the event horizon and there is no turning back.

So, if you are looking for a MMO to dress up and ERP in, I can recommend this game for you. Everyone else, here is the state of the game in NA:

Ultimates: Find a static to prog to last phase to get your saus clear passport then get carried and never touch the content again. Anyone who actually farms this stuff is most likely not doing it for altruistic reasons. Some people will do it a few times for totems but like... everyone else is chasing parses.

Savage: After a new tier releases, watch the community eat itself alive as it argues over which strat to use. After about 6-8 weeks when savage has become virtually irrelevant and people have moved on, you better wake up early on Tuesday for a reclear otherwise you'll be doing one of 2 things: wasting a a lot of time in pf or spending a lot of time filtering people from your group (checking logs).

Chaotic: Wipe a few times and disband. XD Seriously though, I think the reason for this isn't necessarily because of toxic behavior but because if 3-4 people leave, the party finder settings get jacked up and its easier just to reform. Good content though even if its release timing is dubious at best.

Alliance Raids: Weekly, unfun, unchallenging, timegated chores.

All other side content: Do it for glams, achievements or completion I guess???? Should probably just go find another hobby in my opinion though.

MSQ: Used to be FFXIV's strong point but now it is insultingly poorly written. Almost offensively bad at some points. It doesn't respect you and your ability to critically think or does it respect your time. Not worth your time. Just youtube it if you are morbidly curious. About the only thing you'll be missing is all the other time wasted doing mundane fetch quests in between contrived expositions.

EDIT: LOLLLL I guess mod RPing just got a lot harder.

Throne and Skibidi

It's a PvP gacha with all the gacha mechanics and no gacha.

It's maximum skibidi korean slop.

Sarcasm aside, it just makes me want to play BDO or Genshin. And tbh, I don't like either of those games.

From a technical standpoint, this remaster is near perfect. The quality of life changes are excellent. Most of the annoyances a veteran would find while playing the game are essentially removed.

Just some warning to anyone new to this title: You will get lost. Very lost. Stories will feel brief and unfinished. Dialogue will feel awkward. None of that was changed in this remaster so expect it to not have that "AAA" hold your hand through the entire story polish. Much of the story is presented in vignettes through the form of quests. Not in the traditional sense of "pick up quest and follow where NPC tells you to go" but more like stumbling across a new lines of dialogue while revisiting NPCS and you start to pull on the threads until it eventually unravels.

If you're willing to dig through this mess of a game you'll find some real diamonds in the rough. Many of the systems within this game are not clearly explained. It's probably best to approach this game as more of a puzzle or a riddle to crack. If you get hopelessly lost or stuck, (I'll catch flack for this comment I'm sure) I would recommend looking up what to do. I think back in the day on the SNES, the idea was for you to discuss with other people. Part of the charm is having those random events happen and trying to figure out how to get it to happen again on the next play through.

Well, I'm going to try to end it here a couple last bits of advice. Don't sweat it if you miss things. You will 100% miss chests and do things beyond sub-optimally. It's okay! Just try to keep moving forward, save often in different slots, and have fun figuring out the game!

tl;dr
Game itself: 7/10 It has many fundamental issues but they can be forgiven because of the music, story and combat system.
Remaster: 10/10 No bugs and QOL features are *chef's kiss*

For $8.99 you get a lot of game. It's still under development so there are still feature's rolling in. Since I've started playing the meta has changed a few times but the goal has always been to make the numbers go up. Right now it's in less of an "AFK the game and win" but the difficulty wall has moved closer as well.

If you like collecting materials, crafting, upgrading items and fishing for optimal stats then this game is like crack. It's listed as an MMO but actual features you have to interact with other players are very limited. At the moment it's mostly about sharing information on rare locations (Tier IX / X tiles). Since all the tiles reset ever hour, no one knows where anything can be at any given time. It makes sharing information important for the community's health.

You can ask around for the current meta if you get stuck but there is a lot of fun to be had figuring it all out yourself! It's not a competition either. I've never felt pressured into rushing to the higher "High Score Levels". The only benefit of that would be gaining the ability to teleport further out to the link's people share (which is limited by your High Score). With the state of the game though, most people stay close to home anyways for exploration. Pushing out into the higher ring levels is more for improving gear.

When you first start, don't be alarmed if you have a 50/50 chance of beating a Tier I crow. That's normal. Just grind away and watch things start to melt as you improve your gear. The game is still changing pretty rapidly but after nearly 200 hours of playing I can strongly recommend this game to anyone who wants a very chillax crafting/gathering RPG with a ton of depth.

Don't let these degenerates complaining about losing their mod tool fool you. Dawntrail has been a massive failure, despite 'good' savage raids and a pretty good Ultimate. The MSQ, music, characters, (English) voice acting, world building, class design, content release cadence, lack of gear options, etc etc etc, are just atrocious.

tl;dr - If you're a new player, don't bother. You missed the hype like 3 years ago. Old players, go see a shrink.
