Extremely bare bones for a Blood angel pack, they also need to stop their format for champion skins, this really should've been an Assault marine champion pack

Games pretty fun. snappy combat, fun weapons, nice environments; Although. The main negatives is a lack of a map (which leads to running around in circles in some maps not knowing where to go) and frame rate drops during the final boss because of all the projectiles and enemies. Other than that, the games pretty fun (although again, i'd reduce it from £19 to something like £15 for what the game is, since there's no bonus unlock or gamemodes or cosmetics when you beat the game)

Pros:
The medieval combat, armour and environments were fun (until pvp)

Cons:
The veteran players with thousands of hours in the game make coming into the game as a new player an absolute hellscape and completely suck all the joy and fun out of the game immediately, put your ego aside and let new players learn the game. Also why is there 0 repercussions and cooldown for using the feint mechanic, but you have a mini asthema attack and have to wait 2 seconds before blocking again.

almost half the weapons are unbalanced and genuinely OP, why are there instant kill weapons in this game? Why? Why are shields bad in your MEDIEVAL COMBAT game, certain weapons are so useless that only a small handful are meta or even worth using, which makes combat incredibly stale when you get killed by the 12th level 200 with the exact same weapon in a row in a game. I'm ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ myself from excitement wow. Also the animation abusers, auto blockers and people with way too much free time on their hands which suck the fun out of combat when they do weird animation tricks to hit you multiple times before you can even block or go through your block by abusing an attack animation.

Play the game for just under 2 hours then refund it. the devs will literally never fix the game or balance it properly and from i've heard, may ban me for this review which is just lovely

Most recent update to this review at bottom, keeping original review for transparency:

Original 30/01/2023
As it stands, do not buy the game, do not buy the Imperial edition; not until they get their act together and actually finish the game. I played in the network test and pre-beta test, the game was almost identical on launch, the only difference being 1 part of the crafting (there's meant to be around 6, and as of writing this review, it only has 2 parts of the crafting system).

The game is fun for a whole 10 hours before getting repetitive and boring, lacking so much content compared to Vermintide, like multiple classes, crafting, scoreboard etc etc

The game is not finished. Give it more time to bake in the oven. They should've really pushed it another year (which sucks i know, but this game definitely needed more time). It would've also helped if their PR wasn't a manchild and they didn't avoid any and all questions and insult its fans, along with pretty much ignoring the game being on fire for over a month, prioritising the cashshop...

It HAS potential and it CAN be an amazing, one of the best warhammer games since Spacemarine 1. But currently i cannot recommend it in good faith, its missing half of what was promised and meant to be in the game.

Update 22/07/2025:
After the most recent update of the new Arbites character/class DLC and the campaign overhaul, i can safely say this game has become worth it, the weapon skill/perk crafting is much better than it originally was (you can now freely switch between perks by levelling the weapon up, no more RNG). The classes are more fleshed out and now that there's a 4th new class, i'd say there's a little more replayability. The campaign is also extremely refreshing to finally see (despite it being promised at launch and not appearing) with all new cutscenes and dialogue which stitch together the story for new and returning players.

Still missing:
- Scoreboard
- Weapon attachments

Only get the base game and first 2 DLCs, everything else is either overpriced or a disappointment. And only get them on sale. Seriously. ( If you REALLY want a base level experience with the game and not miss out on the DLCs, even if you know they're not great, get the base game/season pass on sale and only on sale ).

Pros
- Fun gunplay with new alt firing modes and quirks of weapon companies
- Interesting and beautiful planets and scenery
- Fun characters with their respective expansive skill trees
- The story is average at best, but still enjoyable
- Sliding and parkour was fun and useful
- Bringing back old characters in a fun and ( mostly ) non forced in ways

Cons
- Some characters are extremely annoying and outdated, writing-wise being 2009 tier "comedy"
- ( More of an issue outside of the base game ) The overpriced DLC and predatory business practises with the second season pass
- 3rd and 4th DLCs are disappointing, underwhelming and short

It's fun for the most part, but some aspects can be annoying; specially some of the heavily dated jokes and memes ( Looking at you, Rick and morty reference ).

I'd recommend just getting Borderlands 2 and all it's DLC instead, since that'd probably be on sale at the same time as Borderlands 3

I grew up with this game and loved playing it back then, after coming back to it; it brought back alot of nostalgia. I still love the gameplay, multiple weapons, enemies and areas. I personally prefer this Quake over DOOM.

This was a fun and simple 8-Bit dungeon crawler game with easy to understand controls.

Updating my review since my last one was made when i had 196 hours. I have 3,079 hours now.

- The beginning of the game can be slow to most and feel grindy, ( which is true ) but. Once you get into the swing of things, have weapons/warframes/etc building on the side while you do content or side content or even grind for other items; it'll be done in no time. Best idea is to build things near when you stop playing, so they'll be finished when you play again the next day or later on.

- Midway through the game you will have a sizeable set of weapons, warframes and pets; most of the side content should be a breeze and you won't notice the grind since you'll be focusing on other things. There is PLENTY of content in the beginning and midway through the game, which should keep you invested for months.

- 2 large and 1 medium sized open world areas with different themes such as Corpus/winter, Grineer/spring/summer and Infested infestation area.
- An entirely seperate section of the starchart for the Railjack mission type, a 4 man spaceship (railjack) gamemode which is incredibly fun with upcoming Corpus version (at time of writing).

- Endgame is where it gets tricky, once you've done everything and gotten everything, have all the materials and gear you need. Nothing is really a challenge anymore and you just begin trying to minmax gear (I'm not even into minmaxing but i ran out of other things to do and started doing it). Once you've done everything, all the main quests and side quests, maxed your syndicates, all warframes/weapons/primes. All you can really do is the daily and weekly missions/gamemodes or wait for new update content every few months. Which really slows down the enjoyment of the game.

- The economy of the game is literally the best I've seen in a F2P game, you could easily not pay a single penny on the game and get everything you want, opening relics and trading the contents to other players for the premium currency (Platinum/Plat) and using that to trade with other players for the items/mods you need or buying things off the ingame market you may want.

I highly recommend this game to someone who needs a free game they can sink (Thousands of) hours into.
