Based. Honestly we need a game like this for a few other places too, South Africa and Vietnam come to mind.
Pretty fun the wallrunning, one thing that could be improved is the stealth though. Movement a little improved too.
NAtional ZIonists must d!e

For full context, when the first homefront was about to be released I was hyped up due to the kinda awesome trailer. I guess similar to the first Dead Island where the trailer was pretty interesting and fun to watch. I ended up playing both the original dead island and being disappointed that the game didn't live up to the tone set by the trailer, and felt the same way about the original homefront. However, this is a review of Homfront: The Revolution so I will stop there with context.

This is a huge step up from the first game, as the first was entirely linear and had these weird invisble walls that once you walked into an arena which was very obvious, you could not walk back out. It was really just a hallway shooter like cod, without any of the polish. This game however is more of an "open level" kind of game, there's multiple approaches to each objective and honestly early in the game I was having fun trying different ways. Kinda like the far cry games in a way. Or a bad Deus Ex game.

Anyway, many of the positive reviews here are about timesplitters 2 lol. The game itself (homefront) is not particularly engaging as a shooter imo. I felt like your health got taken down too quickly, however this is sort of balanced by the abundance of medkits around. I think it would have been better to have less medkits everywhere in exchange for a bit beefier healthbar or something. The way enemies seem to react to being shot and the soundeffects of guns was a bit weak, aside from hitting them in the head. So you end up just using the battlerifle all the time, because it is accurate, does good damage and allows for easy headshots.
Shotguns kinda suck because you don't really want to rush enemies as it exposes you too much. Anyway, due to sound design and the way recoil works you end up just using the battlerifle and the submachine gun. I feel like there could have been both more variety and more balancing done. Also kinda lame having to keep changing the weapons using the crysis menu thing, why not just use numbers on the keyboard like all good computer fps games do?

I found the motorbikes fun. I just wish there was more epic tricks you could do with them aside from wheelies and going up ramps. Would have been better in a third person perspective or something. \

Anyway, the story is contrived. I found the characters annoying. And it's clearly setting up a sequel which is unlikely to ever be made. So yeah.

Still kinda fun for a bit though, and it comes with a "free" copy of timesplitters 2 so honestly worth buying just for that.

I feel like this game takes a lot of inspiration from other fpses coming out around the same time, like doom 3, FEAR, Half life 2 and so on.
The graphics look a lot like those from Doom 3, just with a slightly different art style.
The time manipulation abilities are interesting in theory, however you really just use pause and slow during gameplay.

I suppose the natural comparison would have to be FEAR here, which has bullet time like max payne but in first person. The thing about this though is that the AI in FEAR appear to be much more intelligent than the AI here. The gunplay in FEAR feels so good even if you never touch bullet time, whereas here you are more or less forced to use it as a crutch.
The gunplay and melee is very unsatisfying, as the enemies are bulletsponges and there is little in the way of satisfying sound design, the guns sound like pea shooters and there is little response from melee attacks.

Also for some reason it reminds me of Crysis 2, I think because it is so linear. Also it really doesn't reward exploration like every good fps should and the story is barely there. There's worse shooters out there for sure, I've even played and finished a few worse fps games although this doesn't really work in the same sense as rogue warrior because at least playing that is kinda funny.

There are a handful of puzzles drizzled throughout, clearly inspired by those found in half life 2 but with a twist! They suck! All you do is pause time and waltz through fire, electricity, or go from one side of a pendulum to the other.
You are better off playing one of the games that clearly inspired this, those being FEAR, Doom3, or Half Life 2.

Also seems like most people that like this, like it due to nostalgia. It fails at a lot of the things established very early for fps games like having secret rooms, stuff like unlockables, more than three guns at a time, or improving the tools you have ala fears time abilities and so on.

80$ NZD is pretty steep for a game that cuts most of the content from the original.
It's also pretty steep for a game that clearly cut corners by reusing assets from the previous installment.
This was a rush job just so they could ship resistance which isn't worth the extra cost, 3 alone should only be 30$ NZD, resistance is not worth 50$NZD.
I bought the key off gmg where it was cheapest.
Also the zombies in this compared to 2 are far less responsive, it feels like you're fighting animations rather than zombies most of the time. Final boss on higher difficulties feels like playing a rhythm game, there is no extra content to play once you finish so you end up playing the same two hour campaign over again, there are no penalties for using the infinite weapons so clearly the devs intended you to get S ranks.
I'm referencing the previous game often because this feels more like an expansion for that rather than a completely separate game, the differences being that the responsiveness of enemies and gore effects in this are far worse.
I do like the dodge mechanic though and Carlos's hitting mechanic.

Still gonna 100% it though

TL;DR
Not worth what I paid for it, wait for a huge sale where it goes for 75% off or more, Essentially DLC for 2 but with worse zombie gore and responsiveness

There is a lot of stuff that needs fixing before I could recommend this to anyone
1. reduce or entirely remove aim assist and bullet magnetism
2. give us a server browser, this is a pc game now
3. actual graphics and display sliders, at the very least a resolution slider
4. input lag on m+kb needs fixing
5. there's some audio issues that need to be fixed
6. aside from 4, reach is the weakest entry in the collection and that it is currently the only game available
7. linear armor progression sucks
8. co-op campaign de-syncs regularly
9. DMR starts
10. no map voting/vetoing so you end up playing random maps no one likes
11. armor colors seem a bit dull, at least they're not ugly like halo 5 designs but still strange

At least Invasion is still fun

Now there is a windows sign in, lmao
