I received this game for free, during a free weekend. I got the starter edition, which only lets you play the three vanguards, and then a few of the heroes in the faction you choose to join.
Either vikings, knights, or samurai.

Y'know, maybe it's just because I'm only reputation 39 total (at the time of this review), but I like this game. Also, don't get fooled by the reputation system. Just because a guy is high reputation doesn't mean he's good.

But that asides, it clearly has some balance issues. Given equal skill and flawless play, hero A will always beat hero B. But of course, no one has the exact same amount of skill, and there's certainly no one that doesn't mess up once in a while. Playing a subpar hero can be incredibly annoying and off-putting, though. Oh, and you might wanna buy a few extra keyboards or controllers if you're prone to rage ;D

But with all of that said, if you're just playing for fun and not because you want to become one of the best players in the game, it won't matter that much if you know the hero you're playing as.

I'll give it 8/10.

What a phenomenal game. It also happens to be the first visual novel I've experienced, so you should probably take this review with a grain of salt, as... you know, it was my first time. Innuendos, yay!

Now, I will say, I went into the game knowing a lot of the stuff about it - mostly because I'm subscribed to let's players on Youtube. so I've been spoiled by the thumbnails they used, back when they did their playthroughs of it.

Each of the characters are likeable in their own way, and it obviously depends on what sort of a person you are in real life, and whether you like their kind of personalities or not. There are some funny moments with all of them - but also some rather - unpleasant ones, that would have definitely caught me off guard if not for the aforementioned let's players' thumbnails. There are no jumpscares per se, at least as far as I'm concerned.

When you first start playing, you're probably wondering why it has the tag 'psychological horror', but that'll come later down the line. If you have any ounce of empathy in you, you'll probably get a bit emotional too, at some point.

I'm sad I've gotten all the endings, read all the poems etc.
This is one of those games I wish I could have played without knowing any spoilers, but I still found it to be a phenomenal game, like I stated at the start of my review.

Not a very helpful review, but I felt like writing one. 10/10 game in my opinion.

No, not just Monika.

Like to slit people's throats? Kick them off of cliffs, or throw barrels at them to throw them off of cliffs?

Like to use magic to burn them to death, freeze them or throw them off of cliffs or even into spikes? Or do you just like to charge at people with a weapon? Did I mention throwing people off of cliffs?

Well, no matter what, this is the game for you!
