a little weird getting used to upgrading your skills, armor, and weapons, but there is a pretty good flow to progressing like that and feels comfortable pretty quickly.

This is another one of those games with infinite longevity, not only thanks to the genius of its original creators, but also to the creativity of modders. Get bored of the base game? Check out the workshop, and revive your interest with some of the stuff there. I'm a slow gamer, and the pacing of Rimworld allows for me to take my time without punishment - but that's only one way to play the game. The learning curve can seem intimidating at first, but the mechanics are actually very intuitive. Yup, good game.
