The one and only PTSD Vietnam flashback simulator.
Best thing in years, try this stuff ASAP.

1 year later: much more PTSD, still fun as hell as day 1

The pixel art and soundtrack are god tier.
There is a background "lore" throughout the game that ahas really cool ideas in it, many carachters will talk about actually interesting stuff.
The game requires an insane amount of attention to small details to actually progress without checking solutions, hope u are up for it.

Attention: the game uses for the 90% assets from the previous installment (scenery and monsters) but there's also much new content and mechanics, overall the game is a big improvement over the original Hammerwatch and it has more variety BUT:
1) The random dungeons are somewhat "flat" and not much variegated, mainly they are made of random segments, handmade corridors and rooms put together randomly. While on the original HW floors were much more connected, there were multliple connections even between different levels (eg: going back from 3 to a secret room on lvl 1).
2) It's a fused approach partly grindy and partly classic rogue-lite. Your char can improve overtime but it becomes quickly very grindy, also your gold and city is shared among all chars so u can quickly improve a fresh char with the money made on your best op char, somewhat cheaty...

For the rest the game is pretty much the same as the old one and thus a very good, addictive and fun game. Coop is strongly suggested

Basically this game is "only" a multiplayer sandbox with good enough physics and support for many different real life mechanichs like for shuffling deck of cards, roll dices, hide your hands, etc. you need it? it's there.

What it's great is that you are able to play, legally or less legally, any tabletop game ever created with ppl or friends from all around the world as ping isn't really a problem for tabletop gaming.

The basic game does not have many licensed product, but there are tons of "mods" which add licensed games bc some angels which already own physical copy of these games, spend time by taking pictures of every card, recreate models, and then upload the digital copies of the game here on steam or elsewhere. Hell, if you don't seem to find a game you want to play you can even try to scan it yourself and upload it.

This "game" was a really great ploughing idea, we didn't know how much we needed this until someone made it. cheers to the devs!

The freedom this game gives you is quite unmatched in videogames.
You can become whoever you want: beggar, soldier, commander, bandit, king...
There is a very active multiplayer community with tournaments, siege, roleplay servers.
Most importantly is highly moddable. Basically M&B is a big sanbox engine but there are modders out there that took it and implemented more immersive mechanics or used it in another setting:
want to lead an army of elves in Middle Earth? There's LOTR total conversion mod.
house wars in Westeros? There's that too.
Gosh there's even one of the most famous Star Wars mods (yes you read right Star Wars, they managed to do it and its friggin good).
Not to mention the fact that this game is still receiving updates after all this time, and 2 years ago released a huge Viking dlc with drakkars.
Currently M&B II: Bannerlord is in developement, in the meantime buy this gem.
One of the best game in my library.
