So I got this game for the free weekend. I got introduced to Worms on the PSP, and I loved it, it was my childhood. This doesn't compare. Booting up the game leaves you with this well-made screen, before you click on single player or multiplayer and get a poorly designed window. I looked past it though, since I'd call that nitpicking, before getting into the game itself. The tutorial missions are wonky, and after the first one I got this super weird map glitch where two maps sort of overlapped leaving weird textures I could walk through and invisible walls and floors everywhere. On the third tutorial mission, three maps, even more invisible walls, literally preventing me from completing the mission. I thought I'd get lucky with the fourth which instead locked me in a wall, preventing me from moving at all. Same with the fifth, before I tried a campaign mission, which gave the same glitch. I thought maybe it was visual only, but it isn't, the AI can't move and doesn't attack, just skipping their turn. I decided to try out the local multiplayer option and was met with the same glitch. I moved onto the quick match which matched me up in a matter of seconds with a completely idle player before going to the server browser. Terrible. Every two seconds it updates, meaning you can't scroll down the list very far and have extremely little time to actually get into a game. When I got into a game, the glitch persisted, but other players were unaffected. I couldn't see them moving or performing any actions but the worms played the animations for moving and when they used weapons other worms' health went down. I asked in the chat if anybody had the glitch, no one did, they could move around freely. Then I decided it might be because I was on fullscreen, and tried another practice mission. When the game loads the mission, the loading screen persists, but you can interact with your worm, he'll make all the noises of moving and jumping. I have screenshots of all of this.

tl;dr This game doesn't feel finished. It does not function. Childhood lost.

So this game is complicated. You'll not want to stop playing until you die about 10 times in a row to things you didn't know about, but you come back. This game is addicting and one of if not the best games I've played, but is incredibly difficult and there's very little way to progress other than trial and error.



It's amazing though.

The game itself is great, a good timekiller and plenty of fun. However, most weapons aren't that different from one another. (Excluding Shotgun and Rocketlauncher.) Princess (a boss in the game) just gets reskinned and (maybe?) more health (every 20 days, i.e. day 20, 40, 60, etc.) and Greedy Piggy just gets another friend every other boss day. (every other sequence of 10 days, i.e day 10, 30, 50, etc.) However for the price it's worth buying just as 'I don't have internet right now, going to play a cheapie game.'


TL;DR
For 99 cents, worth buying, but don't expect great boss fights.

To make a list of things good about this game would take too long, let's try things bad.

I can't find any.
