TLDR: Try it.

I've clocked a lot of hours on Destiny 2, on Battlenet, XBOX, and PC. I've spent more hours in this game than anything else in my gaming history. It has PVP, PVE, PVPVE, MMO systems, a story campaign that you can run in co-op, and a universe so thoughtfully crafted that your random loot drops will be referencing fundamental forces of the universe, culture-shaping works of literature, and cheeky references to players emoting at bosses. At its core, Destiny 2 is a game that dares you to make your own fate. Do you want to fight in the Crucible? Do you want to run Strikes? Do you want to take on even greater challenges in a 6 player raid? Do you crave even MORE challenge in a Master raid? You've seen "Destiny Killers" come and go by the dozens because no one, and I mean no one, has ever captured the same experience that Bungie has. World of Warcraft might have raids, Warframe might have loot, and The Finals has its sublime gunplay, but nothing comes close to the science-fantasy game that has it all.

Now, in June of 2026, Destiny 2 has announced the end of active development. The team has released an update which is essentially a swansong of epic proportions. Cosmetics that would normally be paid for, free. New quests, exotics, free. A complete overhaul of every relevant part of the game's loot pool. Reprised raid encounters, the crown jewels of Destiny's legacy.

Personally, I am heartbroken. I would like Destiny 2 to be one of those live-service games that last in perpetuity, but I know that those edge-cases in the gaming industry require careful navigation and quite a bit of luck to last so long. You don't always end up with Yoshi-P taking over and creating plans for game longevity, backed by the full approval of corporate leadership. You don't always have Rebecca Ford stepping up and addressing New Player Experience, overhauling core systems. The saddest part of these last few announcements in Destiny 2 is that the team at Bungie clearly cared, and understood exactly what players were asking for. (Not that they haven't demonstrated such insight before, the depth of 2022's Forsaken sandbox overhaul relaunched the game into a bright future.) A full loot refresh, overhaul of core systems, cosmetics tied to achievements in game, new gamemodes, Monument of Triumph was clearly in the works for far longer than anyone knew the game was coming to an end.

If you're wanting to know if Destiny 2 is worth trying, I would say yes, it is. It is a herculean effort to mix space magic and guns into a grounded science-fantasy world based off our own, based on the ugly and beautiful choices humans make. This T-rated game touches more on loss, identity, and purpose than most Mature media I've seen, and in beautiful ways too. It is a story of humanity through the ages. Our bravery, devotion, sacrifice, and our many deaths.

From a more metagamer standpoint, the game is still receiving bugfixes and the sandbox is in the best place it's ever been. At time of writing, 24hr peak for Steam is ~136k players. (Yes, there's consoles and crossplay for the curious.) The community is having a blast with the flood of new loot and buildcrafting opportunities, and long-time players are coming back just to see what the hubbub is about. It's a good time to be playing Destiny 2.

So, do I recommend Destiny 2 to others? Yes, I do. It is a game that brings people together, and together is how we make our own fate.

Necrobinder turned to the Ironclad and said, "I want to slay the spire too."

It's more Slay the Spire, if you liked the original you'll like this one. Co-op is absolutely phenomenal, especially with co-op focused cards. The health scaling gets pretty nuts with 4 players, but you'll figure something out for every character.

I adore the placeholder art, I hope we get to keep a gallery of it somewhere once we get full release.

You're piloting a V Rising character, with League of Legends abilities, modified by Slay the Spire relics, and you navigate a FTL node map while the Hunter/Rebel Fleet chases you towards the boss. It's a solid roguelite, and I'm excited to replay this one to see all that it offers. At time of writing, have played exclusively in co-op and encountered no bugs.

I've been spending much less time typing lately, and figured a typing game would be a good way to stay in practice.

Roguelite horde survival, plays as advertised with a clean minimalist aesthetic. Solid gameplay with choices between more active and passive "weapons," and with only one truly passive turret you'll always be typing during the course of a run. It's quite engaging, with powerups and bosses forcing you to split your attention across what's happening on screen.

The only real complaint I'd have is that visual clarity can be lacking in later stages, or with effects such as the beam weapon obscuring text. It would be appreciated if there was a list of "active" words on the side of the UI, maybe listed in order of closest to your weapon. Or perhaps text being always-on-top with a transparent background?

A solid entry to the typing space, more engaging than Typing of the Dead to me. Especially for roguelite enthusiasts, would strongly recommend.

Quick, casual, co-op shenanigans. It's like Alien Swarm meets Magicka, where your spells are airstrikes and mechs and the missions are randomly generated. There's three different races and exactly a dozen different difficulties for players of all sorts to enjoy.
Infinitely more enjoyable with good friends.

Alien Swarm is back, and it's got up to 8 players and workshop support. Servers are a tad slow right now but besides that, it's definitely worth the price tag and then some.

I mean, you can all see the trailer. That's what you're buying.

Story's not very long, but there's a ton of secrets for the curious completionists. The game as a whole is more like a gorgeous tech demo with some of the most unique mechanics you'll find in the current market, though it should be noted there's a moderate amount of content included besides just the time-moving story/endless/challenge modes.

If you watch the trailer, and feel comfortable paying for what you see and only what you see, you'll be pleasantly surprised that the game offers just a bit more than that. If not, go play a shooter that fits your tastes.

It's good and it keeps getting better. I purchased this game in early access, and the community and developers are very active in making this game an enjoyable experience.

The grind is at a medium level compared to other free-to-play games, in a week you'll have the ship you want but you definitely won't have all of them.

As a MOBA, the team strength/individual strength is akin to Heroes of the Storm- resources are perfectly shared among your team. One kill benefits all of you equally, and as a result you must make smarter decisions if your team is behind in levels.

Matchmaking is relatively slow and occasionally you'll have one or two outclassed members on a team, but this is likely to improve with more players in the matchmaking system.

At the very least, it's free. I highly recommend you try it out yourself.

League of Legends? Defense of the Ancients? Heroes of the Storm? Obviously, the real name of the game is Fractured of Space.
