I want to like this game, it has some decent bones, but what they've made here is a complete mishmash of different games but fails to make any one of them solid. This game is not for casuals, it's for hardcore FPS players, but those players have a ton of successful games far better than this one.

When I saw the trailer and heard "raid shooter", I'm thinking large map 12v12 or other large team sizes, and crashing the opposing sides base. What we have here is pointless looting on a large map for 3v3 teams. Some concepts are fun, some of the characters are...interesting?

Edit:

I've played a lot more now, and am loving the patches (no excuse for a bad launch), but listening to players feedback and adding 5v5 so quickly gives them a thumbs up in my book. My review is changed to positive now!

DLC when?

Edit:

I learned how to edit reviews on steam just so I could come glaze this game harder. It's truly a deep thought-provoking piece of art. Everything is just so engaging, it's always a spectacle to behold. I'm now invested in The Game Awards just to see this game absolutely sweep. If we don't see this game win, something truly earth shattering must have come out this year.

Hey, kids.... wanna play an actually rock solid game with awesome optimization that doesn't cost $70?

The game is so good that I uninstalled the Xbox Game Pass version, cancelled my subscription I had just gotten for $1, and bought the Deluxe Edition on Steam.

Very impressed this dropped out of nowhere with such visual and technical polish, well done!

Early Access Review
Got burned on LawBreakers, a game I loved and had a huge amount of potential.
They decided not to go Free to Play with that title and instead to let it die.

Hopefully this is different. From playing all the Battle Royale games available and then to this one with a negative view going into it, guess what? It's actually fun. I think the biggest selling point for me is the constant progression. You can die and still walk away feeling like you worked towards something, even if it's cosmetics or a greater chance at victory for your following matches.

Winning feels great, Loosing seems fair.

Honestly, as a huge Destiny player that has dumped endless hours into the Franchise and am currently not getting my fix with D2, waiting for updates, and having played Division for a month when it first launched, the game is fun.

I know that was long winded but the game is kinda scratching the "itch" currently. Now don't get me wrong, it's not without issues. You cannot go in and expect it to be up to the polish of those titles. It's kinda clunky, controls need some rebinding and tinkering to get a good feel for it. The multiplayer is in a very rough state currently which I hope is addressed. Hero-Battle is a neat concept but was getting mad lag spikes. Like insane. Possibly due to uncapping the framerate for myself, have not reverted and tested again.

Also worth mentioning incredible aim assist, it's bonkers for real.

The loot actually get's pretty neat. And the Character Creation among other things is supprisingly good. Think of the loot more akin to Division or Warframe where you get certain bonuses that overall stat pump you. It's got weapon upgrading and a bunch of stuff actually.

I'm often turned off by the overall silly-ness and generic the stories are in these anime-styled driven games. But so far I've been somewhat invested and some lines actually got a chuckle, Such as a swag G-Gundam reference... woah. Having created your character and being directly tied into the story really helps.

I'm telling you, If they support this game and truely expand the multiplayer we could have a real gem on our hands.

tl;dr
