Hard to finish but very cozy to chip away at. I've seen other desktop toy games like this around, but I think this one has my favorite avatar customization and style for the fishing, and the fishing locations are varied and present a great fantasy, especially the last area!

One of the more innovative little idle or incremental games I've seen in a while - the physics simulations and animations actually seem to matter, there's a ton of variety in how the upgrades and different jobs for the 'gnorps' work, and it's also not terribly long to finish. (I've left it on idle for pretty big stretches that I don't think were strictly necessary, but for an idle game 100 hours is almost breezy.)

I really love this series of remasters - the new levels in Dimension of the Machine are maybe the best levels anyone has made in the Q1 engine. Obviously they're cheating a little compared to the original release, but they're so inventive and full of variety and storytelling that it kinda blows some other boomer shooters out of the water.

If you're curious at all about the history of the genre, pick this up.

Vampire Survivors captures this perfect flow state that only arcade gameplay really gets you. It's like a bullet hell but you can eventually surmount all the challenges and break the game, which I find deeply satisfying.

I didn't play the original, so I don't have a ton of personal nostalgia, but this holds up as an interesting collectathon platformer and doesn't overstay it's welcome. There's a few achievements or challenges that can get frustrating, but I didn't mind those in the end, and it was a satisfying trilogy to fully clear.

A very solid Monster Hunter game - this is probably one of the better ones in the series to get into. It's a little faster than World, combat is very flexible, and the upcoming expansion is bringing back a ton of old favorites with very neat fights.

A very interesting incremental game, and the coding is implemented as JS so it's really intuitive if you have any experience. If you don't, they have a secondary language that's simpler for people who aren't coders which can get you started too.

A fresh, gritty story, excellent aesthetic style, and great memorable songs.

It's also the rare example of a deck builder game that isn't procedurally generated - instead you keep building new combos for your characters across a long story campaign in a cool way.

Tooth and Tail may be the freshest, most streamlined and mechanically interesting RTS I've ever played, and the flavor and theming are really strong.

Firstly, I'm just really surprised this exists. I backed it so long ago I'd almost given up hoping. Seeing it actually happen, especially with how rough the process was, makes it seem really special.

I think even without that it's a game I'm very happy with, though. All the characters have that Homestuck flair, the puzzles aren't too obtuse and it never goes super deep into point and click rub everything on everything puzzling, and the ending is satisfying while still setting up the next Acts. It doesn't feel like this was a cutoff prologue. If anything, it's a bit longer than I was expecting from an Act 1.
