Cool concept, very poorly executed imo. What seems like it should feel like a smooth consistent experience in a really cool game world is clouded entirely by slow ass gameplay. Your success and earnings potential per round is based almost entirely on your teammates, who are 99% of the time steaming hot garbage who don't even try to play the objective. It's one thing when a player is clearly new like the rest of us, it's another when it's someone who clearly put hours in but wants to be a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and scream racist clown ♥♥♥♥ over their headset like it's CoD 2012 in the worst way. Won't be picking this up again until they fix the clunky gunplay and lack of gamemodes.

There really isn't a game that does multiplayer survival quite like Rust.
No other game has made me laugh, rage, obsess over "getting good," build long lasting friendships, and so many other things as much as this one has.

The server browser and plugin/modded support allows the community to tailor Rust's gameplay to meet everyone's vibe.

From early legacy to now, this game is a time sink that - at least for me and my friends - is well worth it.

Early Access Review
There is a surprising amount of content to dig your teeth into here, for an early access title. Compared to similar games, the experience - albeit simple and barebones as of 9/5/23 v0.1.20 - feels polished in the sense that there's lots to explore and do in a sandbox survival setting.

The base building is pretty cool, especially the neon signs that don't (currently) require power. (;

Played this game with my woman, took about 30 hours to complete without grinding for any extra content and a tad bit of exploring. We loved every bit of the ride! From "accidentally" dropping me into a pit of lava to epic snowball fights, hardcore parkour and beaming at each-other when solving a puzzle, I loved playing this game and seeing her fall in love with it, too. Truly a beautiful experience and well worth the buy, even off-sale.

Well-earned 9.9/10 (where's my ping function like in Portal 2, bro'h?)

Game good - Micro-transactionsoft bad.

HALO HAS NEVER BEEN A GAME WHERE EVERYTHING HALF DECENT IS LOCKED BEHIND A PAYWALL!
Using this an excuse is a cop-out for predatory industry standards, and Microsoft should do more to lead with this bread-and-butter exclusive than this.

Overall consensus: Don't bother with this game. You can't even obtain new copies of it on Steam anyways and EpicGames pretty much made every effort possible to ruin this game.

They removed trading because their "Credits" micro-transaction system simply sucks ass and that fact is simply no one's fault but their own. It is impossible to earn said cosmetic Credits as a normal player; you have no choice but to put real money into it for cosmetic upgrades to get largely recycled content from their "Rocket Pass" which gives you an arbitrary and largely pointless XP boost and access to "challenges" which are the same do "x" task "x" times every season/event anyways. Not to mention the "free" cosmetics you unlock are a literal smack in the face to veteran players because THE CRATES ALL GIVE ITEMS THAT WERE PART OF THE BASE GAME BEFORE THAT ALL OF US ALREADY OWN IN OUR INVENTORY AS NON-TRADEABLE "LEGACY" ITEMS. IT WENT F2P AND NO ONE WAS COMPENSATED FOR THAT, AND NO CHANGES HAVE BEEN MADE TO THAT TO DATE. That alone is enough for me to throw both birds up and never spend a penny more on anything tied to EpicGames, period, ever. ♥♥♥♥ you, EpicGames, you suck ass.

All things considered, despite the slower development phase - thanks to Kage848 on YouTube I avidly play between both PC and XB1 editions of this game.

Not to directly compare any game with blocks and crafting in it as most do; but if you enjoy the sandbox resource gathering aspects of a game like Minecraft, you enjoy blasting hordes of enemies like in tower defense, and you love slaughtering albeit somewhat poorly yet uniquely rendered zombies by the hundreds - this is the indie title for you.

Personally, Garry's Mod is a great game for those of us people out there who have a sense of creativity and look for fun innovative ways to make a sandbox our own. Garry's Mod applies ways where players can create such incredible and innovative worlds that haven't been seen anywhere else in the history of gaming, or perhaps they could reimagine games within the world of Gmod.

A big thumbs up from me, apologies for the brief review but I have work to do.

Ciao! ~
