If this was a setup for green lighting the sequel, I am down. Like most people would have thought that we were getting a sequel earlier than expected after finishing the game a few months after it was released back in 2019. Which it took 6 years for a dynamic lighting enhancement, a Horde Assault mode, and a Permadeath mode we didn't asked for and it should have been free in the first place.

*The graphics were already perfect before this update and probably the most impressive part of the game and a technical feat. Realistic graphics even for a Steam Deck and a base PlayStation 4 can achieve without the need for too much graphics processing power. How Unreal Engine should have been.

*Horde Assault mode. Should have been a free content update before. Sure it was fun and you can fight hordes anywhere you want and the game spawns it wherever you are in the map at a certain timer. Lots of loot and a lootbox mechanic for randomized Weapons and Items to use at a designated spots on the map. It also includes modifiers for extra game play enhancements. More infected wildlife animals, more durable bike, exploding infected when killed, and so much more.

*There goes my perfect achievement for this game. Once again, who dafuq asked for this? A Permadeath in an open world game? I can add more to satisfy OCD players (because I admittedly am one of those). Complete the game without the bike, complete the game without guns, complete the game without healing, and without getting shot once. Hell, just complete the game even without walking.

I am with the former director of Bend Studios, John Garvin, with this one.
Mainstream game journalist and the execs of Sony at the time should be blamed for cancelling the sequel for this great game. Include the abomination that is the DEI consultants.

UPDATE after finishing Permadeath Mode (06/05/2025):
More like Broken DLC

When I say that the graphics were already perfect before the update, the game is already flawless overall. Until this DLC came, more ♥♥♥♥ just got broken. Broken Road adds bug breaking progression during final mission. I never crashed once before the DLC. I got it running everything on Ultra graphics settings at 120fps locked for consistent performance. With this DLC, I crashed during cutscene when I skipped it at a mission to test a napalm molotov.

Not game performance issues but actual bugs and glitches that almost got my Permadeath run killed during the final mission with that interactive Skizzo boss fight. The floor is missing and Skizzo just got wormholed down to hell and Deacon fights the Hollow Man and then he also fell of the map afterwards. Thankfully, I restarted the whole final mission and it fixed. On top of that they gave an update about it and actually fixed it.

Another is for playing more than 1 hour in Horde Asssault Mode, the game starts to decay itself. Trying to aim and I can't shoot my gun, my Napalm molotov for some reason didn't explode on the hordes. Same for grenades.

UPDATE (06/11/2025):
Bend Studio staff and developers got laid off and reported around 30% of them. 40 people have been let go. Sony also cancelled 2 of the unannounced "live-service" games.

When we wanted Days Gone 2, this wouldn't happened. Now the sequel will unlikely going to be made at this point. This cancerous sh!t, live-service garbage, the region lock restrictions, and the mutant abominations who includes forced DEI into almost everything, should be gunned down as an execution.
