I sat down and told myself I'd finally write this review, but now that it's come time to write it..
Well, I don't know what to say. I have never more hated and loved a game in my life. I grew up obsessed with tanks, military vehicles, and typical boyish things. Yet, the biggest one for me were tanks. I'd build little Lego tanks and play with them in the bath, play each and every tank game I came across, no matter how bad, simply because I loved tanks.

This game tickles that niche little fantasy. It allows me to inhabit a tank (and other vehicles) as a cohesive whole, and to pit myself, my knowledge against people who are just as good, and most of the time, better than me. Whether I win or lose, rage, or take a break from this game. I have to just keep coming back. Most of the time my deaths are my own fault, my own hubris and lack of skill.. It's oddly addicting.

War Thunder is 13 years old at the time of writing this review. It has many, many flaws. And yet, it is just something else, an experience you simply cannot feel or get anywhere else. It's hellish, it's a slog, but it's your hell. Your slog. And you won't stop. You'll keep going, you'll get that next vehicle. You'll learn to fight that nation. You'll learn the weak points of your nemesis. You'll learn, you'll grow, and you'll be better.
