If you want to feel like you truly exist in the Dune universe (as a peasant), then this game is for you!
It's brown on grey everywhere you look, just like a desert! It's punishing, unforgiving, tedious, and menial, just like a desert!

If you want a fun, rewarding gaming experience... I'd recommend you look somewhere else.

I like that there's more 'adventure' to it than a lot of the Survival/Crafting games out there.

I feel like Avowed is what you get when you do well at every aspect of building a game without excelling at anything in particular. Don't think this is criticising it! It's all around good, and I'd really like more of it. I'm hoping a combination of DLCs and crazy mods give this title a long future of fun.

Path of Exile 2 builds upon all of the things that led me to spend over three thousand hours playing Path of Exile 1, while discarding many of the things that constantly caused me annoyance during those times. 2 is still EA, and has plenty of work to do to be truly 'on par' with it's predecessor; but the foundations are strong and promising. Looking forward to where it goes from here, and remain pretty confident that I will strongly prefer it going forward.

It's exactly what it presents itself as. A fun little idle game about zany little Gnorps and their rock-smashing shenanigans. Not too complicated, not too long.

tl;dr: Highly recommend.

The adventuring, fighting, looting, and basic parts of base building feel a lot like a top-down Terraria to me, which is a great start. It doesn't really set itself apart from the crowd of other top-down survival style games, but the bones in this area are solid.

The breakaway feature that sets Necesse on a whole other level for me is how the NPCs in your own bases work. Instead of some basic NPCs that just sit around and act like vendors, Necesse gives you a full colony sim for your home bases! They work kind of like a simplified RimWorld or Dwarf Fortress. Build everyone rooms, build workshops, and give your towns people jobs and priorities. Your storage chests can be marked to only hold certain goods (with priorities). Your crafting benches can be set up with automatic recipes. After all this setup, your villagers (if you keep them happy) will run around sorting all your loot and crafting things for you! It's awesome.

Necesse is still in early access, and doesn't have nearly the depth of content of my earlier comparison Terraria, but I completely recommend Necesse in it's current state.

I'm looking forward to (hopefully) another 10+ years of content updates and feature additions. Maybe massive modpacks? This could easily become one of the games I replay yearly with friends.

It's a lot more of what made first Subnautica great. Beautiful, a wonderful mix of tension and relaxation, and chock full of neat places to explore.

It lulls you in with it's very slick, reponsive, and frenetic gameplay, and then bludgeons you with some pretty brutal enemies. I never considered myself a masochist, but I've never had so much fun getting ruined...
