What an amazing game.

Story-wise it was incredibly enthralling: it felt like watching a very well written movie that you had the oppurtunity to act in. The story itself was intense, at times horrifying, and very immersive. You've probably heard about the focus that mental illness and psychosis receive in this game and the effect is simply jaw-dropping.

Gameplay is very enjoyable. I am usually not that into games with puzzles in them so I approached Hellblade with a bit of trepidation. Thankfully, the puzzles are not incredibly hard but are not too easy either.

Combat is one of my favorite aspects of the game. It's not too complex but it is intense and rewarding and the animations are gorgeous.

The only downside with the game is that sometimes you might feel like you're just in a walking simulator. If you feel like this I encourage you to explore the world around you and listen to the viking lore runestones, they're awesome.

In conclusion, I'd recommend this game to anybody who wants a relatively short playthrough filled with an amazing and immersive story with a sizable helping of tense and rewarding combat,

A really good friend always told me that this was his favorite game of all time. Of course I had heard how good it was but I finally got around to playing it and can say that it lived up to my friend's praise.

The story and dialogue are a bit cheesy and relatively predictable and the controls are going to throw you for a loop if you grew up on FPS or regular third person shooters. If you stick with it though the controls wil start to feel natural and you'll find yourself in some of the most tense shootouts of your life against mutants and worse.

9/10

My favorite story in the Black Ops franchise by far. It's fairly standard Cold War stuff with special operations, brainwashing/sleeper cell, and doomsday themes throughout. Like I said, my favorite story so for once I think it would be worth it to purchase a CoD game just for the story.

I cannot speak to the multiplayer aspect as I haven't played it since it came out on console. I assume it's still got the feeling of an updated CoD: World at War though.

Here's a pro-tip before I start the review. Don't do your first playthrough on hard. Unless you're really, really confident you'll be able to handle one-shot kills and an insane increase to your own stamina drain.

On the topic of whether it's a good game or not: the answer is definitely yes, but it has a few shortcomings. Of the things it does well, the chief among them is most definitely combat. Everytime I went into combat (actually not everytime, I learned to hate ogres with a passion very early on) I felt an excellent amount of tactical freedom and when I executed fights very well, I felt like I was an anime star.

One of the things Dragon's Dogma does poorly is the story. I tend to like a little more depth to my games and Dragon's Dogma defintiely has an anime feel to it, not that it's necessarily bad, but it was predictable and the dialogue was weird at times.

I didn't really do too many sidequests but I was constantly reminded they were there. This game has TONS of stuff do to, but it's all kind of the same stuff in my opinion. Another thing that kind of irked me was that I kept seeing the same monsters over and over to the point where I'd audibly groan when I came across ogres (I really hate ogres...sorry shrek).

Despite the repetitive nature of the side quests and the repeat monster palette, the game is very solid. 8/10 or a 7/10 if you really can't let the repetition go. The monster slaying is epic and the combat is awesome.

My advice is to pick this game up when it goes on sale, enjoy it, and feel like your very own anime edge lord who gets his own personal harem of waifu sorcerers.

If you're a PC gamer, or even a console gamer, and you haven't played this game yet then you can't really call yourself a gamer.

Whether you're the casual Dovahkiin who loads up once every few days to check on the world of skyrim and make sure it hasn't gone to ♥♥♥♥ since they last left it or the hardcore listener of the dark brotherhood, harbringer of the companions, archmage of Winterold, etc... this game can be played at all levels and thoroughly enjoyed.

Alot of my time spent with this game was on console, and so it wasn't until I started playing it on PC that I got to experience just how much better the game could be made with mods.

Buy this game: it is one of the definitive games of this generation.
