for the confidence achieved you have to be nice to joxxi when helping with a book in the village and in the library (help him fully both times), then support him when constructing the portal both times, (joxxi is the new mayor after giving him the journal and walking him to the village), and after the world breaks, you go take him with you to help "repair the computer" but then go to the library and jump down. Also I am not sure if you also need to never have seen the librarian boss before that point
