I did not grow up playing Ratchet and Clank. I grew up playing the other series, Jak and Daxter, as well as 2 of the Sly Cooper games. I really only ever played the R&C games when I was a full on adult who had moved out and wanted to try getting some games on my PS3 before sony shut down the servers. I managed to play through every single mainline game this way.

Playing this now, after only just recently finishing Into the Nexus just a few months ago, and played A Crack in Time a few years ago at that, this game awoke something in me. It felt like back then there was a sort of PS club back then, where all the devs were friends and they helped each other out with either promoting or developing their games. Sly, Jak, and of course Ratchet were considered the Big 3 back in the PS2 days.

This game made me go back to those days. It felt like I was a kid again, ironically, playing Jak 2 all over again for the first time. It felt like a game that was just so good that it completely brought me back. It's nostalgic somehow, but isn't nostalgia baiting. It's so pure in its efforts that it was like drinking a cup of water after only drinking sodas for months. The refreshing feeling is just unmatched. This game will bring you back to the good days and then some.
I can not recommend this game more.

This game is trash, but it's good trash. It's just like the show.

I'd compare it to potato chips. It's not good for you, but as long you're not expecting high class stuff, you won't be disappointed.

This is truly a special collection. Different from the rest. Just in the main menu alone, we have the grand return of Andrew Francis, the voice of Mega Man.EXE in the Mega Man NT Warrior anime. Having Mega Man.EXE sitting there in the main menu treated it like the homescreen of a PET (and this is even better when on the Steam Deck) is a dream come true to so many people who grew up with these games.
The games themselves are incredible on their own, but this collection has added RANKED ONLINE MATCHES! The fan community keeping this series alive by a thread has held several events based on the original gba games being ran through emulation, and now it's officially a thing that Capcom is supporting! This alone is worth the asking price to be able to battle with other and even trade Battle Chips!

If you weren't around for the games when they originally came out, this is an incredible package to really get in to. You will not be disappointed.

I have finished the story and have seen the game normally. I'm still going through the extra stuff like the professional difficulty. That being said, this game is fantastic, BUT I don't think it would ever replace the original. There's certain lines and moments that are still better in the original.
I do think there's a bit of a trade off with both versions. The original has a more goofy horror style that's very cheesy, but it knows what it is. This version tries to be more serious and actually be scary at times, but also has some of the classic cheesy lines as if they were trying to say "ey ey! see that? we referenced the thing you like". Part of me wishes they leaned in more on the goofy stuff, but the more horror focus is very welcome. I just wish Serra called Bitores "The Big Cheese" at some point, but it never happened unfortunately.

I have a GTX 1070 and this game ran almost perfectly on my ancient gpu. I had to turn down the setting, medium to low, but even still the game looked amazing and ran at an almost perfect 60fps. The only time it really dipped was when there was 1 too many enemies in the same spot, or the next area was loading in. Those drops are very infrequent and barely noticeable as it picks itself right back up like nothing happened.
I also have a 2560x1080 ultrawide monitor and the game adjusted itself to it almost perfectly. There were some cutscenes that unfortunately ran in the basic 16:9 ratio, but most of the time the cutscenes and the gameplay was all 21:9.

To end, I still believe that to get the most out of this game, you should play the original first and understand how it plays and the story that's being told, then jump into the remake where things are changed and you'll understand what has been changed, removed, or replaced.
