I feel like I need to help this DLC out a bit here with a positive review.

I can understand if people chose to not recommend based on the price point when compared to the base game but there's more to a game like this. After buying this at full price I have already spent enough time in the game again to say it was a worthwile purchase.

The new characters are fun. I prefer Nevermoor but the passive healing from the new mage/healer is crazy. I still need to try out some different builds for Nevermoor, but he quickly became one of my favorite brawlers.

The new map is a welcome change of pace from always having the same final act. It has some sudden difficulty spikes that keep you on your feet and the new final boss is so much better than the previous one. The fact that stage two has a puzzle element, not a hard one perhaps but still fun, figuring out the pattern and such. The last phase had a nice twist too, though I can see why some would dislike it.

Overall it's a good DLC, that could have been better recieved at a 15€ price point rather than 20€ perhaps.

One of the best games I've played this year (2025)
Great writing, great characters, fun gameplay.
I can't recommend it enough, I'm already hoping for a sequel.

This is a narrative game first and foremost though, take that in mind. It has a defined start and end point, your choices just affect things around those points but don't expect your playthough to be super unique where your choices completely alter the storyline.

It still has replay value to see what other choices lead to as well as to ace all the dispatcher shifts even if it isn't necessary for the story as a whole.

I keep thinking of this game despite having completed it once myself and watched several streamers play it.
I really will have to return and ace all the dispatch shifts sometime soon!

I can't believe I haven't written a review of this yet.

FFXIV is the best MMO I have ever played, especially from a story perspective.
The story starting in A Realm Reborn and culminating in Endwalker is nothing less than amazing.
Something you should know if you are looking to try the game out is that, despite it being an MMO, the Main Scenario Questline (MSQ for short) is more or less a singleplayer experience. There are dungeons and "trials" that require you to party up with other players, but other than that it's designed to be played solo.
Basically FFXIV is a proper Final Fantasy game just with MMO added to it.

That said, the community in FFXIV is so different to most other MMOs I have played and I've played a lot.
It's standard practice to greet the other players when you do group content and say "gg" or the like at the end.
It's more or less ingrained in every player that if there's a new player in the group that hasn't seen the cutscenes you wait and let them experience it without rushing them.
If there's important tactics in a boss fight most players are perfectly happy to explain it before the fight starts.
And so on and so forth.

With the new expansion coming out tomorrow, Dawntrail, the game starts a new adventure and with it comes a graphical update. I have made my best to not spoil myself so I haven't seen much but I have seen some glimpses of the new textures and materials in game and it looks SO much better.

It's not the best time right now, but if you want to try the game out do make use of their super generous Free Trial. You can play through all of the base game and the first two expansions entirely free, there will be some restrictions but they're really not that bad. The reason it's a bad time at the time of writing is that free trial accounts will have deprioritized queues to get on the servers and with the new expansion the servers are going to be full to bursting almost guaranteed. But in a few weeks (I'd wager like a month after the release) the queues should go back to normal.

In the end I can easily give this game a 10/10, with the story and OST doing most of the heavy lifting, aided by the friendly community.

For the sake of Arrowhead who actually fought for the consumers I will change my review. It's not everyday that we as consumers and players actually manage to stand up against a megacorporation like Sony. But don't get me wrong, this goes right back to "Not Recommended if this is just another short term change.

As for a proper review.
The game is very fun, especially with friends. There is so much chaos in every match. Before buying the game I was afraind I'd hate it, but I was convinced to give it a shot and here I am over 100 hours later.

In terms of if being a "Live Service" game it's probably among the first true ones and something other developers should look at before they make one of their own. It's constantly being run and updated with new dynamic missions based on what the players do. Not just the usual small static updates every few months that other "Live Service" games do.

The gameplay is fun, the graphics are nice, the community is... ok, if a bit overly rabid at times, but at least they proved their ability to stand together in the face of Sony, even if a lot of them took things way too far and attacked and harassed the wrong people.

While there has been some changes to the game from then I played it religiously on the Playstation back in ancient times I have to say that it's lived up to my expectations.

Most of the changes are for the better, though some does make the game easier than it used to be so I'm sure to some that is a negative.

The one thing I'm not a fan of is how the battle skills work now. It used to be that if you used a special attack a number of times it got stronger and faster, now you spend points earned in battle or by leveling up to do this and the skills generally don't become as good as they could in the original. Like I remember spamming some of the attacks with nearly no pause but now the delay between the abilities seem set from when you get them to when you fully upgrade them.

The new fast travel system to previously visited towns and dungeons is great and it will even tell you if there's an available Private action in the location, as well as tell you if it's missable or not. This was something I remember fearing in the original.

Speaking of PAs, you can now easily see what level of affection your party has to each other and you can use this to more easily set things up for desired endings.

I've yet to get to the end of the game though so I can't say if there's been further changes there. But I am looking forward to a NG+ run after this playthrough to pick up the party members I didn't get this time.

It's nice to be able to change the spoken langauge between English and Japanese, while the English voices are nostalgic to me the Japanese voices generally fit the characters better.

From my playtime so far I'm still rating this 9/10, still one of the best JRPGs I've played and probably only beat by Suikoden (2 and 5 specifically).

The game is very good, but don't go in expecting it to be a new Final Fantasy Tactics, it's not quite that level.

The way the story is laid out is interesting, with different paths depending on your choices, selected through a voting process with 7 of your closest friends in the game. You can influence them with conversations before each vote if you wish it to go a certain way, but you won't always succeeed in convincing them.

I'm missing the job system of FFT, but at least they have made each character to recruit unique in some way and you can build your army around their abilities. I do wish character upgrates weren't timegated though, requiring material that is drip fed to you over time.

The artstyle and general presentation of the game is nice. I wish I could coment on the music but I think it's not been catching my attention enough.

Overall, so far, I'd give this game a 7/10.
Will see if that changes after I beat it. The fact it has some replay value by going the different routes is somewhat intriguing. I believe there's a New Game + system but I don't know what that entails in this game.

Really fun and somewhat addicting peg game!

I've already spent quite a few hours in the game since I bought it and it's all in Early Access.
It's getting pretty frequent updates and I can see that they have a good base for the game already.
With further polish, new characters (there's currently only one but more are planned), orbs and relics the game will only get better.

I do hope that in the future more maps will be added, currently there's only 3 maps/levels, each with two possible bosses. While the three maps per run is fine, as to not make a session too long, it would be nice if you got some random maps each time too. But considering each map would require new enemies, peg boards and bosses I understand that it's not their main priority right now.

As it is it's only gotten better with each update and I predict that will continue to be the case.

This is one of the most fun deckbuilding games as well as roguelite games I've played so far.

The art is nice, the mechanics are great. You get noticeably stronger with each run and there's so many different synergies and paths you can try out.

I have yet to play the game multiplayer but I have a feeling it would be a blast.

I highly recommend this game if you like deck based tactical combat and roguelites.

I was looking for something in the vein of Heroes of Might and Magic, which I loved to play when I was younger, and found this game.

So far I've had some fun and some not so fun games. I've yet to really understand the balance of the units and it's caused some rather frustrating games.

While the game on the surface looks a lot like HOMM it really, really isn't. You have close to no control in battle so it's more like if HOMM was auto-chess. Take from that what you will, I guess.

While recommending the game I can't currently give it more than a 6/10 due to balance issues and the cheating AI (They will get a new, stronger than it should be, army out of nowhere the turn after you defeat them, so if you had a pyrric victory it actually just means the enemy AI won).
