Definitely fun if you like battlefieldesque shooters.

I may be showing my age when I say this, but it feels very much like a modern version of Joint Ops Typhoon Rising in a good way. Some of those maps were a bit bigger, the gameplay a lot more battlefield based. This gives off the love and care that those games had in a way.

I tried attack and defend, Black Hawk Down and an extraction round to get a nice taste. I will state right now, I used to own the gold collectors set for Delta Force and got the entire series. I grew up playing Black Hawk Down and Joint Ops Typhoon Rising and Battlefield Vietnam. They were my bread and butter growing up.
-The “Campaign”: Black Hawk Down -
I guess it’s a faithful reboot. If you were a fan of the original black hawk down, you’ll love its missions and the fun to be had. I didn’t get a chance to play any DF online as a kid so I can’t give you a full review of how that may have went down compared to this. The npcs they got spot on to the original game, I remember them being very difficult and sneaky. So many games have groomed us to expect the opposing force is going to be some professional set of soldiers and not terrorists-guerilla fighters who show their inexperience with a gun. I found myself being surprised by them and while they aren’t perfect, they have that factor of either bum rushing your iron sights or hiding behind furniture that make you second guess if a room is clear or not.
You get pre selected weapons, can choose between four characters. Your team will be whoever you add in with you and if you decide to go solo you will be solo. I wasn’t a big fan of this.

-Warfare: 10 minute blitz every time-
Attack, defend, blitz, KOTH, you’ll find that the battles can be short with some maps. While others they feel a bit longer. On average 10 or so minutes. It’s not very drawn out like Battlefield, Red Orchestra or Enlisted where you fight tooth and nail for every section of space. I do have an issue with how vehicles are handled, you get a vehicle hog in the game and you’ll never get to use them most of the time. Another issue is if you are knocked down, other players will rarely bother to help you out. It can be fun, just a little grueling at some points. Like getting killed by someone hiding in a spot they shouldn’t be.

-Extraction: tasteful Warzone with heavy risk-
I played a bit of extraction and let me be honest here I’m not a fan of Warzone to begin with so any spin off type shooters make me dislike them from the start. I did give a few rounds a try and if you get a decent team you can really take over a whole match. The idea is to get in, loot, shoot, extract. Kind of like Dark and Darker with modern weapons and more rage inducing. I find it a okay game mode, just be sure to clear any time on your schedule to do it so you don’t get trapped with a “now I have to end my match early and potentially lose everything “

Overall it’s not a full 1:1 perfect boot of the classic games. It’s a great alternative to 2042 if you are broke and need something free. It’s also not as sweaty as COD and not as annoying as Enlisted (it’s squad based system on small maps can be a pain).
Though the one thing I’ll complain is there is a lot of Asian accounts that cheat. There seems to not really be any serious anti cheat.

I hope it stays, it’s a bit fun!

Very fun, especially appreciate the auto shoot feature. I cant tell you how many times I lost a good mouse or controller due to spamming the trigger.

Overall, its a fun game. Though the main missions take some time and progression is very slow. Its achievement based progression...for example "Kill 1000 zombies to unlock this!"
I like the game, now for the bad...

It will give you a major headache. I cant last longer than 10 minutes at a time. It also gets difficult very quick and with a perma death system thats not very fun.

A great game, I own it on Xbox and put more time on there with a racing wheel.
I really do enjoy it, however the online community is toxic.

A trip down memory lane...
The year was 2008, I got a free 60 minute timed unlimited demo of Rfactor from some demo site. You could only play 60 minutes at a time as many times as you desired. I had a BLAST, ripping through corners, completing the same race weekend over and over. This game, Rallysport Challenge and GT Legends were the catalyst of my love of cars. Eventually I managed to pick up a physical copy off Ebay to add to my growing collection. This game has lived in my memory like a cattle brand on hide.
The graphics of this game will not be the best. They aren't the greatest today, but for its time it was great. If you want a nice racing experience that still has a somewhat active community, jump on in. Especially if you have a lightweight machine that can't run intensive stuff like Assetto Corsa. Some of these old racing sims are just fun to get back into!

Being a fan of the Silent Hunter series, a game like this is a dream come true for many of us who want that bridge between 4 and 5. The combat is fun, with the realism being a mix of Silent Hunter 5 and 3 from what I could tell. I really suggest upping all realism if you are a veteran to sub sims in general. As you'll get the most authentic experience of Uboat life and combat. Combat feels like it doesn't take center stage. You aren't just waiting around for another target. Events happen, things go wrong, you run into surprises along the way to your main objective. It never is smooth sailing, thats the fun of it though. A crew member gets sick, someone panics during an attack. Crew are receptive to your actions, so are the enemy. You aren't just a lonely sub out there fighting a war by yourself.

**you can play this on GeForce now**

A true blast to play if you enjoy RTS and any kind of FPS. The game it's most like would be a mix of Call Of War and maybe Project Lazarus where you can just jump into combat at any time. Controlling a unit directly and being able to fight along side your commanded units.
The direct control feature is fun to play albeit a bit clunky here and there. You definitely won't notice with all the fun you are having though.
I'm still rounding out the gameplay and getting used to the features and controls.

Combat can be a bit slow, so this isn't your typical jump in, play for 20 minutes and leave. Set aside time for any battles you experience.
The game has a full single player campaign and dynamic campaign where it throws random maps of different difficulties. You have to research new units, allocate credits to getting them and only have so many you can bring into a battle. This is fun because it makes you think a little about what you might want to bring in terms of tactics or firepower. So you can't spam just tanks, you'll be at a disadvantage in one way or another.
One thing I do like is if you are in a campaign and manage to successfully capture an enemy gun or armored car or whatever. You manage to keep it in your army for future use.

The AI can be sneaky on what units it picks. So be prepared that you might get something easy the first time around. But round a corner and watch as a tank and entire squad gets wiped out by a Flak 88. I've also found out sometimes the AI will bait you, at least that's what it feels like. Trying to get a fix on your location before positioning a gun that wipes out a whole tank crew.

It does have multiplayer but I have not experienced it yet and don't really wish to...I am a simple hermit gamer

Overall the game is a real blast and you are missing out if you don't give it a try.
I would definitely consider getting a DLC or all of them, you'll grow quickly into the campaigns and want more units and maps to play with

Probably one of the best games you can play if you love playing by yourself.

You can build stuff, use stuff and just have a blast rescuing. My favorite thing to do is to use workshop vehicles, you got really good creators who make some awesome stuff too.

Im going to end up buying all the DLCs at this rate.

Its a great game for passing the time or quick bites of fun inbetween work. You can use CheatEngine on it easily and there are enough mods out there to change up the base gameplay. Its got tons of replayablility.

This game is great, I really do enjoy it.
It is a big step up from its predecessors, I have never owned a IL2 game without owning a physical copy first. However this is my first all digital copy.

Goodstuff
Mouse control, It saved me from suffering through the long wait of waiting to buy a new joystick. While it does have its quirks, it does do its job as intended.

Graphic and sound masterpiece.
Never have I ever enjoyed a WW2 Flight sim more then this one. It is miles above its competition in beauty wise, this game actually drove me to building a whole new flight sim rig. Just so I could enjoy the wonderful rumble of the BF109 and chatter of its guns.

Dynamic
AI is more dynamic then the old games, really fun to play with the AI. I feel like it is more challenging then before.

Multiplayer stuff
Not a fan of multiplayer, but its great to have it for those missions with friends.

Bad Stuff:

Mouse control, anyone who thinks they are an ace while using the mouse...probably has a long way to go. Sure it is great, however the mouse has its limits and doesnt do a good of a job as a set of pedals and a joystick.

AI can fault out at times
Granted, AI is hard to make, however it can clunk out and become dumb at times. Whether this is intentional or not, I am unsure.

Menus
The old IL2 games had simple menus to navigate and explore. Especially when mapping controls, however in menus in this game, they can be a pain to navigate, confusing and very painful to find that one command.

Resolution
Now don't get me wrong, not everyone can shell out to get a expensive gaming computer with a fabulous screen to go along with it. I just don't have the money, so I must force my newer games to run at a lower resolution then normal. While this may seem harmless, menu UI gets smaller and smaller. Surprisingly even going down a setting in reso, the UI is unreadable and a pain to navigate if you are trying to play.

I am no game developer, however I love sim games and love the studio that has made IL2 Sturmovik all these years. So these are just good and the bad. I haven't played for long however I have logged hundreds of hours on the other IL2 games and sims, I am surely going to log even more on this game.
